Fabricio Andrade has about a week to go before he gets a chance to win his first MMA world championship.
Fighting former ONE bantamweight world champion John Lineker in the main event of ONE Fight Night 7, he’ll make the journey across Thailand to the capital of Bangkok. The historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium will host the event, meaning Andrade and Lineker will battle in a traditional boxing ring.
Fabricio Andrade's ONE Championship debut was fought in a ring, so he will have a better feel for it come fight night. At a recent ONE Championship event at Lumpinee, the number one contender at bantamweight stepped inside the ring to get some shadowboxing in.
He posted this video on his Instagram, with this caption:

"2 weeks for the show, let’s go 🇹🇭🇧🇷🔥."
Many fans are looking forward to seeing a continuation of the first encounter between Andrade and Lineker. Setting up a boxing ring for the rematch ensures that the fight could take some different twists and turns.
A cage wall changes the flow of clinchwork and grappling exchanges with fighters, often using the cage as a third appendage to assist in takedowns, sweeps, and standups. On the flip side, a ring provides more open space to attempt submissions.
The presence of the ring adds just one more narrative to a fight that already has a history full of drama between the two Brazilians.
Fabricio Andrade believes John Lineker will make championship weight for highly anticipated rematch
Three-quarters of a pound was all it took to strip the title of John Lineker last October, who forfeited his world championship with a weight miss. The miss wouldn’t matter much, as the fight reached an anticlimactic no contest ruling due to a foul.
All eyes will be on Lineker when he steps on the scale next week with hopes that the world title fight will continue as planned. Fabricio Andrade believes that the pressure on Lineker will ensure a drama-free weigh-in.
Speaking to ONE Championship, Fabricio had this to say about his opponent:
“[Lineker] will definitely be more attentive with this weight issue. Nobody likes to be on time and not make weight. No one wants to look unprofessional. So, I believe he will be aware of his weight so that it doesn’t happen again.”
John Lineker would be forced into a tough situation in his career if he misses weight for back-to-back world title fights. Fabricio Andrade likely isn’t too concerned with a weight miss, confident in his own skills to claim the belt either way.
ONE Fight Night 7 goes down on February 24th from Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. The event streams on Prime Video for North American subscribers during US prime time.
