Jon Jones' return is on the horizon

Jon Jones is gearing up for his highly anticipated heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 next month and is seemingly enjoying the process.

In a recent video posted on social media, Jones can be seen grooving to some music in the gym alongside fellow UFC heavyweight Walt Harris. Harris first showed off a few moves before 'Bones' followed suit.

Walt Harris hasn't fought since June 2021, with his last three bouts being TKO losses. The last time 'The Big Ticket' tasted victory was in 2019, when he knocked out Alexei Oleynik. His professional record stands at 13-10-1.

Meanwhile, Jon Jones is on the cusp of making his heavyweight debut, almost three years after vacating the light heavyweight strap. He was initially expected to face Francis Ngannou in his comeback fight. However, Ngannou's surprise exit from the UFC saw 'Bones' get booked opposite Ciryl Gane for the vacant title.

Jones and Gane will lock horns in the main event of UFC 285 on March 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Robert Whittaker on Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane

In a recent interview, former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker weighed in on the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane. 'The Reaper' has backed 'Bones' to emerge victorious and claim the vacant heavyweight strap.

Whittaker believes Jones' elite wrestling, cardio, strength and intelligence will prove to be too much for Gane on the night. Predicting a finish on the ground, the Australian said:

"Jon Jones is going to take Gane down and just lay on him and finish him there. Jones' wrestling is next calibre. Nobody comes close to what Jones can produce in the octagon... He can take people down and grapple with ease, strike with the best of them, he's got cardio and strength... And Jones probably has the highest IQ in the game. He'll see a weakness and he'll exploit it."

Jones' last fight was his narrow decision loss to Dominick Reyes back in 2020. The American has been bulking up in preparation for his heavyweight debut ever since. While his skills are undeniable, it remains to be seen how the lengthy hiatus and change in physique has changed his fighting style.
