Liam Harrison is the human embodiment of an obsession.

Harrison fights in ONE Championship’s bantamweight Muay Thai division. But long before ONE even existed, he was dreaming of world titles and the experience of being in the ring.

Liam Harrison gave a look into his mindset throughout his martial arts journey in a video posted to his Instagram account. Take a look:

Explaining how his focus as a teenager was often divided, Harrison had this to say about his classroom experience:

“When I first started training, the teachers talking to me about something. I’m looking at her but I’m not paying attention. In my head, I’m slipping a punch, I’m throwing an elbow, I’m throwing an uppercut.”

Liam Harrison grew up in Leeds, England, playing soccer as a child. A friend of his introduced him to Muay Thai at age 13, and from that moment on, he knew he found his sport.

“The Hitman” struggled to see the purpose of school so much that he dropped out as a teenager to pursue martial arts full-time. The gamble of dropping out paid off, as he would go on to win eight Muay Thai titles around the world before signing with ONE Championship.

Liam Harrison embraces role of mentoring the next generation of Muay Thai fighters

ONE bantamweight Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison has been in the ring for a long time.

He’s a veteran of over 100 Muay Thai fights, and at age 37, he’s embracing his chance to pass down his wisdom to the next generation of fighters.

Harrison posted a video to his Instagram highlighting his love for teaching younger fighters:

Harrison also spoke about the mistakes he made and the troubles he got into as a young man. This includes when he realized he wanted to get serious about training:

"Obviously, I've grown up in a rough area where honestly not many people make it out. A lot of my friends have ended up in jail. While they were out in the streets getting up to all sorts, I was in the gym."

Harrison added:

"In the gym at 13, 14. Then at 15, I started to get really serious with my training ... And that's when most of my friends - some were like getting sent off to jail and they're on the brink of either going one way or the other. I totally left all that."

Liam Harrison is currently recovering from knee surgery and is building towards a big return in ONE Championship.
