MMA legend Nate Diaz received the celebratory key to Stockton from Mayor Kevin Lincoln in honor of his service to the community. Diaz hilariously accepted the award in the iconic "soaking wet Travis Scott" Air Jordans that he wore at the post-fight media scrum of his last contracted UFC fight.

Nate Diaz represents the area code '209' with pride and wears it like an armor every time he steps inside the octagon. The MMA veteran, who enthralled fans worldwide with his entertaining fights and authentic personality, helped put '209', the area code of Stockton, a city on the San Joaquin River, in California’s Central Valley, on the map.

In recognition of his contributions to the sport and his role in popularizing the area alongside his older brother Nick Diaz, the former UFC star was presented with the city's key earlier today at the Stockton Kings basketball game at the Stockton Arena:

Funnily enough, Diaz was apparently wearing the same Travis Scott Air Jordans that were drenched and wet when he made his appearance in the post-fight media interview at UFC 279.

Following his victory over Tony Ferguson, Diaz was at his humorous best in the post-fight media scrum. The Stockton native had ice wrapped up to heal the damage done by Ferguson on his leg. However, the ice melted and water dripped down, resulting in the iconic "soaking wet Travis Scott" Air Jordans.

Mayor Kevin Lincoln on Nate Diaz receiving the key to the city

Nate Diaz received the key to his hometown of Stockton in light of his positive contribution to the city.

During the final bout of his UFC contract, which took place in September of this year at UFC 279, Nate Diaz stunned everyone by defeating Tony Ferguson via submission with exactly two minutes and nine seconds remaining on the clock. This prompted UFC color commentator Joe Rogan to believe that maybe we are living in a simulation.

Speaking about Diaz's positive influence on the city, Mayor Lincoln stated:

"We thank you for the grit and determination you display every time you step into a fight. I want you to know that the same grit and determination is built into the very fabric of this city that you represent. It's an honor to be here and present to you on behalf of the city of Stockton, the key to the city."
