Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov's rivalry was one for the ages. The two former lightweight champions feuded for years before finally meeting inside the octagon in the UFC 229 main event in Las Vegas.

The tension carried over to the fans in the aftermath of UFC 229 as both supporter groups squared off in the concorde of the T-Mobile Arena. A video uploaded to Twitter by 'Out Of Context MMA' displays the incident.

Nurmagomedov's fans are seen grouping up and assembling in a circle while surrounded by Irish fans supporting McGregor.

After a standoff and some shoving between both sets of fans, there was a physical altercation resulting in a McGregor fan being knocked out. A few more punches were thrown from both sides, but the available footage does not indicate any further escalation beyond that.

Fans weren't the only ones brawling after the main event of UFC 229. After 'The Eagle' submitted his Irish counterpart in the fourth round of the fight, he took out his frustration on Conor McGregor's team, particularly Dillon Danis.

Khabib Nurmagomedov vaulted over the octagon cage and dived towards the Irishman's corner. He engaged with Dillon Danis briefly before he was separated by a multitude of security personnel and led back to the octagon.

The ensuing chaos resulted in Nurmagomedov not getting to wear his belt as the defending champion. For safety reasons, he was escorted out of the arena and back to the locker room.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's manager calls out Conor McGregor for being "trash" while addressing Oliveira/Makhachev buildup

Khabib Nurmagomedov's long-time teammate and protege Islam Makhachev will face Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 for the vacant lightweight belt.

Amidst rising friction between the two camps, firm words have been exchanged by both sides. Nurmagomedov and Makhachev's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, addressed the comments from his client on Brazilian channel Canal Encarada.

"People have to understand this. We love Brazil. Khabib [Nurmagomedov] loves Brazil. We like Charles Oliveira. He's a great guy. But right now, when he signed the contract, he's the enemy. And Islam [Makhachev] is his enemy."

Abdelaziz then referenced his client's fight against Conor McGregor as an example they do not wish to follow due to the unsportsmanlike conduct throughout.

"But in the battlefield, you respect your enemy. You have to have rules, you have to have honorable. There's no bad blood. Whatever happens after this fight, we will shake hands and congratulate each other, 100%. I think Charles Oliveira is not a bad person. He is not like Conor McGregor - trash. We come from humble beginning [like Oliveira]. We understand the struggle." [h/t Mirror]
