Who is Robin Black? All about the ex-MMA fighter Dana White ranted about at UFC Vegas 73 presser

Dana White lambasted former MMA fighter Robin Black at the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight press conference earlier today. The UFC president's comments regarding Black have, in turn, piqued the attention of the MMA world.

This comes after Black recently posted an Instagram video, wherein he suggested that the UFC runs primarily on its brand value and marketing and doesn't necessarily have the best fighters.

The MMA fighter-turned-analyst cited former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou's recent signing with PFL as an example.

During the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight presser, Dana White criticized Robin Black and addressed the latter's opinion regarding Francis Ngannou and the UFC. Jibing at Black's appearance, White stated:

"I had to listen to this f**king Robin Black, who looks like he came out of a f**king 1997 f**king timewarp, talking sh**. If anybody needs a makeover, somebody please help that dude. Get him -- What's that show on TV? Major Makeover or whatever the f**k it is, somebody sign Robin Black up for that thing."

"This guy's out there talking all this sh** about -- Oh, we're just all about marketing, not the best fighters in the world, and all this really stupid sh**. So, a lot of this stuff's just coming from the media."

Robin Black's MMA record, his response to UFC president Dana White

Robin Black made his professional MMA debut with a second-round submission win against Chris Myra at Freedom Fight - Title Quest in July 2008. The Canadian fighter amassed an MMA record of four victories and five defeats. His last MMA bout saw him beat Derek Charbonneau via second-round submission at Slamm 1 - Garcia vs. Lamarche in November 2012.

The 53-year-old MMA analyst and retired MMA fighter has also performed as a glam rock musician and is known for his glam rockstar-like fashion sense. For the past several years, Black has been working as an MMA analyst, breaking down fights and focusing on the technical aspects of the sport. Besides, he also puts forth his opinions regarding the latest developments in MMA.

Speaking to Ben Davis, Robin Black has now revealed that he doesn't know what Dana White exactly said. Black clarified that he likes White and their past interactions have been positive. He noted that White's rant may have to do with his recent comments about Francis Ngannou.

Moreover, Black jested that perhaps he does need a makeover. He then proceeded to emphasize that he didn't intend to offend White with his comments about Ngannou. Black said:

"I was kind of giving them [White and the UFC] a compliment. It's good business to try to control the narrative. It's good business to invest in your marketing and your storytelling, and you're the best at it. This we see in all businesses all around the world. People are controlling the narrative because it's easier than just controlling reality."
