At ONE Fight Night 9 last April, Jonathan Haggerty pulled off perhaps the biggest upset in Muay Thai's modern history by stopping the great Nong-O Hama to become a historic two-division world champion.

‘The General’ silenced the capacity crowd at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok by decimating the seemingly immortal Nong-O to capture the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title, his second world in the promotion. How he did it will forever be discussed in combat sports forums.

After knocking Nong-O down twice, Jonathan Haggerty put the icing on the cake with a nasty punch combination that knocked the Thai world champion down and out.

ONE posted a breakdown of the world title-winning combo:

"This KO sequence was CRAZY 🤯 Who should “The General” defend the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against FIRST? 🏆 @jhaggerty_"

Jonathan Haggerty, the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai king, used his height and reach advantage masterfully and sent his signature teep kicks from the outside. ‘The General’ sent an early strong message by by sending Nong-O on backside with a perfect low leg-sweep. Not to be outdone, however, Nong-O answered with his fundamentally sound and earth-rattling roundhouse kick.

After that, the English takeover commenced as Jonathan Haggerty landed a swift right hand to the body. The misdirection worked as he immediately followed it up with another right hand but this time, it was to Nong-O's chin. The shot sent the Thai legend to the canvas as he may have been anticipating a body blow. As they say, it's the punch you don't see coming that truly hurts you.

After beating the 10-count, Nong-O was on pure survival mode as he hasn't fully recovered yet from the first concussive blow. Still on wobbly legs, the Thai hero was sent once again to the canvas by a nifty two-punch combo. With the end drawing close, Haggerty once again knocked Nong-O down to become the new king of the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai ranks.
