Ion Accelerators are mainly gained by research. You can research bulks of Ion Accelerators to enhance Reactors in the First Descendant. To start researching Ion Accelerators, follow these steps:
Start Research
- Go find Anais at Albion
- Select "Research Requests"
- Choose "Enhancement Material"
Create Ion accelerators
- You have options to make 1, 5, 25, and 125 at a time
- Materials needed: Solenoid and Superconductive core
How to get the materials for Ion Accelerators
- Dismantle old reactors that you aren’t using. This will give you Solenoid and Superconductive cores
Keep in mind that other than researching, you can also get Ion Accelerators by completing certain missions, reaching new levels, and defeating certain bosses. In the end-game, reactor enhancement costs get very high so you will be needing a lot of Ion Accelerators then.

How to enhance Reactor with Ion Accelerator in TFD
Go to the Reactor enhancement section in the workbench which is located in the main town. Select the Reactor you want to enhance. Once you have the Ion Accelerators apply them to upgrade your chosen Reactor. The amount of Ion Accelerator needed for each Reactor upgrade depends on the Reactor’s rarity and level.
Basic Tips for Reactors in The First Descendant
Match the reactor's skill power boost with your character's class and skills:
- Check your character's skills in the Descendants screen
- Look for the symbol above each skill (e.g., Tech, Singular, etc.)
- Choose a reactor that boosts the same attributes as your skill
Keep in mind that matching the Reactor type to your skills is crucial:
- It can boost your skill power by up to 140% when properly matched
- Mismatched reactors only provide 100% skill power boost
