Barry Middleton: A Brief Biography
Barry John Middleton is an English field hockey player who was a member of the Great Britain squad that finished ninth at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and fifth in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was also part of the national team that won the 2009 Eurohockey Nations Cup and gained silver at the 2010 Champions Trophy. A midfielder, he made his international debut in April 2003 against Belgium. Having formerly played for HGC, Cannock and Doncaster, he is currently in East Grinstead Hockey Club\'s team. He has Captained England to their first ever gold medal at the European Championships in 2009, which led to him being adjudged UK Athlete of the Year.
