On the September 9, 2022, episode of NXT Level Up, Nima made his singles match debut against Duke Hudson but was defeated. After that match, Nima and Price competed in several tag team matches but did not secure a win across multiple shows. Their losing streak ended on December 13, 2023, with a victory over Bryson Montana and Oba Femi. Eventually, the duo made their television debut against Axiom and SCRYPTS on the July 18, 2023, episode of NXT. In the following week's episode, they lost to The D'Angelo Family (Channing Lorenzo and Tony D'Angelo) as per Cagematch.
After a video surfaced of the group collecting money on the streets, where Nima said, "From the dirt, to making it out the mud," Price responded, "O... T... M," the name Out The Mud, or OTM, emerged as their identity. On September 12, 2023, the OTM debuted with a victory over Hank Walker and Tank Ledger with assistance from Scriptz. At the 2023 NXT No Mercy, the OTM were defeated in a WWE NXT Tag Team Title Fatal Four Way match. On June 1, 2024, SCRYPTS announced he would become a free agent after WWE decided not to renew his contract, as reported by Fightful. On July 9, Lucien Price teamed with OTM to compete against The Good Brothers, resulting in a victory for OTM. On July 16, Out The Mud faced Mia Yim and The Good Brothers in a mixed tag team match, ending in a loss for OTM, as per Cagematch.
