Charles Aranguiz: A Brief Biography

Charles Mariano Aránguiz Sandoval also known as Charles Aranguiz is a chilean professional footballer who plays for Bayer Leverkusen and the Chile national team presently. Born on 17 April 1989, he started his Youth Career with clubs like Universidad de Chile, Cobreloa. His mother Mariana Sandoval, is a football coach and therefore he started his training early when he was 13 years old.


Club Career


Aranguiz made his professional debut in 2006 playing from the side of Cobreloa against Cobresal. He was then loaned to Cobresal for some time before joining Colo-Colo in 2009. He then had a short spell with Quilmes in 2010 before joining Universidad de Chile where he has performed well having scored 20 goals in 95 appearances.


He was a part of Universidad de Chile from 2011 to 2013 and helped the club to win the 2011 Copa Sudamericana where the Chilean team remained unbeaten for the whole tournament.


He was then transferred to Internacional for one year and has played for Bayer Leverkusen since 2015.


He is also part of the Chile National Team and also have been a part of U20 National Team. he has been awarded and honored by Campeonato Gaúcho which is the top flight professional football league in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.
