Glenn Kirkham: A Brief Biography

Glenn Charles W. Kirkham is an English field hockey player who was a member of England men\'s hockey squad which won gold at the 2009 EuroHockey Championships. Kirkham embarked on his hockey career by playing for a small club of Alford from a young age. From here Glenn moved to the bigger club of Long Sutton until he was off to the University of Loughborough where he played for Loughborough Students\' Men\'s Hockey Club in the England Hockey League Premier Division. He is currently playing for East Grinstead and was honoured as the England captain for 2006-07 season. Kirkham saw the pinnacle of his hockey playing career at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, where the Great Britain hockey team beat Korea in the 5th/6th play off game to finish 5th. He was part of the England team that participated in the field hockey World Cup in Monchengladbach, Germany where they finished 5th overall. He was also part of the team that won bronze in the European Championship held at Gladbach in 2011. Kirkham has picked up over 100 international caps for England & Great Britain since making his international debut in 2003 against Belgium.
