Background

Pizarro started his career in Argentina with Lanus, a top club in Primera division in 2007. He was consistently improving and building his game in the youth ranks that led to his promotion to the senior team in 2009.

The midfielder notched up 102 caps for Lanus that included few top quality performances. His quality on the field proved that he was meant for bigger things and in 2013 he was transferred to Mexico side Tigres UANL.

Debut

Pizarro came into national reckoning in 2016. He was in the preliminary squad for Copa América Centenario and was also selected to play against Columbia and Brazil. However, he failed to get any game time under his belt. On the 28th of March, 2017, Pizarro made his international debut against Bolivia at La Paz. He did not have a fruitful debut as his side suffered a 2-0 defeat against Bolivia. The midfielder failed to make any sort of impact in the game. He has played only three matches for his country and his performance hasn’t contributed much to the team.

Rise to Glory

Guido Pizarro had a great time with Tigers UANL in Mexico from 2013-2017. He was a workhorse who took pride in building plays from the midfield. In four years, the Tigers made it to 10 finals having won four of them. Pizarro made significant contributions to the side and was a key member of the setup.

The 2015-16 season was his best year and he finished the league as Liga MX’s best in several categories. distance covered (232.68 km), completed passes (1,225), received passes (1,092) and touches on the ball (1,547). He finished first in distance covered (232.68 km), completed passes (1,225), received passes (1,092) and touches on the ball (1,547).

The Tigers won the Apertura 2015 and 2016, Copa Clausura 2014 and Campeón de Campeone in 2016 with Pizarro being at the helm of the side. On July 2017, he was transferred to Spanish club Sevilla FC.

Low Points

The midfielder did not perform as expected when he was called in the Argentina national squad. Pizarro can ill-afford to lose any other opportunities that comes his way as there are a basket of players who are waiting to get a chance to play for their country.

Though Pizarro has done well for Sevilla in the past 6-7 months, he must double up to be in the national setup again.
