Jacek Bak: A Brief Biography
Jacek Waldemar Bak is a former Polish footballer who was born on March 24, 1973 in Lublin, Poland. He was a 6’2” tall player who played at the position of Centre back for his team.
Background
Bak began his career with the Youth team of Motor Lublin for which he later began his senior club career also.
Debut
He played his first match for Poland on February 1, 1993 in a 0-0 draw game against Cyprus. On August 17, 1994 his first goal for Poland came in a friendly match against Belarus which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Rise to glory
Jacek has represented Poland for 15 years in which he appeared in two World Cups and Euro 2008.
Club career
In 1989, Jacek Bak began his club career with local club Motor Lublin at the age of just 16. Two years later, for the 1992-93 Ekstraklasa he moved to Lech Poznań where played 28 games to help his team win their third national championship in four years.
In 1995 summer, Bak joined Olympique Lyonnais in the Ligue 1 where they finished at the first position.
Records
Jacek Bak has represented Lyon in more than 150 competitive games where he also contributed to win the 2002 National Championship for them.
Retirement
Bak retired in June 2010 at the age of 37 after spending two years with Al Rayyan SC and three years with Austria Wien.
