Kamil Grosicki: A Brief Biography

Kamil Paweł Grosicki is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a winger for Hull City in the Championship. Born on 8th June 1988, Grosicki is a predominant right winger occasionally plays a Left back and Striker. The right-footed player won the PFA Fan’s Premier League Player of the Month on April 2017 when he was playing for the now relegated Hull City.


Background


Born in Szczecin, Poland, Grosicki began his youth career at Pogoń Szczecin. He came through the ranks made his competitive debut for the club’s first team in Ekstraklasa.


Debut


Grosicki made just 2 appearances in the 2005-2006 season. He made his debut on 7th May 2006 in an encounter against Arka Gdynia. He was substituted in the match at the 86th minute.


He was becoming one of the Sporadic players as he made 26 appearances and finding the net on three occasions.


Rise to glory


In 2007, he was transferred to Legia Warsaw for € 225,000 and after a few months, he requested a loan move due to personal problems.


On 13th February 2008, he was sent on loan to Swiss side Sion until the end of 2008. He played in eight matches and scored two goals during the second half of the 2007–08 Ekstraklasa.


At the start of the following season, he was dropped to the under-21 team by the club's new manager and left the club shortly.


In February 2009, Jagiellonia Białystok brought Grosicki on loan until the end of the 2008–09 season and made it a permanent deal.


During the 2010 season, he became a regular and won the Polish Cup, as well as the Polish Supercup.


Grosicki's second stint abroad was with Süper Lig side Sivasspor, where he was transferred to in January 2011 for approximately €900,000 on a three-and-a-half-year contract.


After three years at the Turkish club, Grosicki moved on 24th January 2014 to French outfit Stade Rennes for €800,000.

In the semi-final on 15th April, he scored again in a 3–2 win over Angers. He went on to make 85 appearances and scored 13 goals.


On 31st January 2017, Grosicki signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Premier League club Hull City.


On 12th August 2017, he scored his first goal for the club in a championship encounter against Burton Albion in a 4-1 home win.


Club career


On May 2006, Grosicki made his debut for Pogoń Szczecin in Ekstraklasa and made 28 appearances in his one and a half season spell with the club. He was then moved to Legia Warsaw and made only 11 appearances scoring once an was sent on loan to Swiss club Sion in 2008.


It was followed by a loan move to Jagiellonia the following season and after scoring 4 goals in 13 matches, Jagiellonia made it a permanent move. After featuring in 45 matches scoring 10 goals, he was sold to Turkish club Sivasspor.


Three seasons at the club was followed by a move to French Stade Rennes resulted in 65 appearances for the club. In January 2017, Grosicki moves to Premier League strugglers Hull City who were relegated that season and currently plying his trade in the Championship for the club.
