Manvir Singh: A Brief Biography

Manvir Singh Biography

Manvir Singh is a 22 year old Indian footballer who joined Mohammedan Sporting Club from Minerva Academy. He plays as a forward position and is among the brightest young talents in the nation.

Background

He was an important part of India’s U23 set up. He hails from a football background where his father, Kuldip Singh, was a professional footballer who played in Santosh Trophy.

Walking on the footsteps of his father, Manvir played for Bengal in the 71st Santosh Trophy and because of his score in the game, helped his team win the record 32nd Santosh Trophy.

Among his notable performances is one in the U23 squad where he scored a goal leading to defeat of Turkmenistan with a score of 3-1 in the AFC U23 Championship in 2017.

Debut

Manvir made his first appearance for India in an U23 International Friendly on 9 July 2017 against Singapore which was eventually won by India. He made his national debut on August 19, 2017.

He made his debut from Minerva FC U17 squad in 2011.

Rise to glory

Manvir’s score in the 119 minute game leading his team to victory in The Bengal Santosh Trophy against Goa, led to his inclusion in the India U22 team for 2018 AFC U23 Championship Qualifiers to be held in Qatar.

In 2017, in a match against Turkmenistan, Manvir scored his first goal for India turning the face of match towards victory of India.

Club career

Manvir played for Minerva Academy after which he joined Mohammedan Sporting Club in 2016 for Calcutta Football League and the Second Division League.

He even appeared in Indian Super League playing for Goa FC in 2018. Manvir represented in the national squad against Turkmenistan in U22 AFC Championship in 2017-2018.
