Poonam Rani

Poonam Rani made her senior international debut in the year 2008 against an imposing Dutch side on their home turf, when she was just sixteen. Now 23, the Hisar girl has already played over 150 games for the Indian women's hockey team and has been a key influence in India's qualifying campaign for the 2016 Olympics which happens to mark their return to the Games after a hiatus of 36 years. Known for her attacking prowess alongside her fellow strikers Rani Rampal and Vandana Kataria, Poonam gives shape to a remarkably potent forward line that could give the bigger teams a run for their money at the upcoming Rio Olympics.
