Santiago Freixa: A Brief Biography
Santiago (\"Santi\") Freixa i Escudé nicknamed \'Gugu\' is a Spanish field hockey player who was part of the team that won the silver in the final rounds of the men\'s tournament at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He earned his first cap in 2000 playing against Netherlands. In 2004, Freixa was named Talent of the Year by the International Hockey Federation and won the Champions Trophy with Spain in Lahore. He won gold medals competeing for the team in Champions Challenge in 2003, European Championship in 2005 and the Champions trophy in 2004. He captained the national team in the men\'s tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
