Vikas Krishan Yadav


Vikas Krishan Yadav is an Indian male boxer who won a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games in the Lightweight category. He also has the prestigious Arjuna award, India's second highest sporting award, to his name. Yadav was born in Singhwa Khas village in Hisar district. Following his migration to the city he joined the Bhiwani Boxing Club. Later, he received training in the Army Sports Institute at Pune. Yadav's professional debut was in 2010 at the Asian Youth Boxing Championships where he was conferred with a gold medal. The same year, he won another gold in the 2010 Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships at Baku in the Lightweight category, defeating Evaldas Petrauskas of Lithuania and later in August, a bronze medal in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics at Singapore in Lightweight category, after being defeated by Petrauskas. In November he won another gold in the finals of the 2010 Asian Games Lightweight category, making it his third consecutive gold medal of the year. At the 2012 Olympics Yadav lost out to Errol Spence by two points.
