Younes Belhanda is a Moroccan international footballer who plays for French club Montpellier in Ligue 1. Praised for his vision, technique and intelligent decision-making skills, Belhanda also plays as an attacking midfielder and a winger. Though he started his career as a French Youth International, he diverted his attention to representing Morocca at a senior International level. Belhanda joined Montpellier Youth Academy at the age of 13 and worked his way up to the Club's reserve team playing in the Championnat de France amateur (CFA). Following the success of the team, Belhanda, along with a few others were awarded professional contracts. Belhanda made his European debut on July 2010 in the first leg of Montpellier's UEFA Europa League third qualifying round with Hungarian club Győri ETO. Belhanda closed out the campaign appearing in 13 of the team's final 14 league matches. Though Montpellier finished the season in 14th place, Belhanda had plenty to be happy about as he finished the season with 42 appearances and three goals. In the next season, he was moved to a playmaker role and it turned out to be successful for both club and player as Montpellier won the Ligue 1 and qualified for the 2012/13 Champions League campaign.
