Dance Brothers is reportedly the first Finnish series that is premiering across the world on the streamer. As per Variety, the yet-to-be-released show was filmed in the Finnish capital city of Helsinki around March last year. Touted as a young-adult drama series, it is the debut scripted production for Endemol Shine Finland.

Terming it as a “special project,” Malka told the publication:

“(Dance Brothers is) a combination of high-quality drama, exciting dance, and a diverse group of talent. (It is) a special project, not only because it is a unique and ground-breaking take on the dance genre…We have created a series that will showcase the very best of Finnish creativity on all levels.”

The Futon Critic reported that season 1 of the upcoming series will have 10 episodes and will air from 3:01 am - 4:00 am EST. However, whether all the episodes will stream at the same time is not cear as of yet.

Apart from Netflix, Dance Brothers will also be airing on YLE, as the Finnish public broadcaster is also one of the producers. Malka, Endemol Shine Finland’s Head of Scripted Programs, is also the executive producer along with the firm's MD, Unne Sormunen.

When asked about the show, Lars Blomgren, Banijay’s head of scripted, said to Variety:

“It’s an ambitious show and an original story that’s really out of the box, so finding the right partners was key and Max Malka was able to do it thanks to her stellar track record.”

To note, even though the fresh Netflix series is a dance drama, the music department has relatively new names. Elja Markkanen and Elias Salmenkallio, known for Into the Forest I Go (2017), have been roped in for scoring the tunes for Dance Brothers.

Not just the new launch, Netflix has a series of recent dance shows, including Dance 100, the reality series Dance Monsters: A Dance Competition, the ballet drama Tiny Pretty Things, the junior competitive dance show Baby Ballroom, Dancing Queen (2018 docuseries about Alyssa Edwards aka Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson), and the five-episode series We Speak Dance, among many others.

The series is slated to hit Netflix on Wednesday, May 10, at 3:00 am (tentatively).
