"Breaking records Left and Right": Fans cheer as BTS Jungkook's GOLDEN becomes the longest-charting album by a K-Pop soloist in Billboard 200 history

On January 9, 2024, Billboard reported that BTS' Jungkook's first solo album, GOLDEN, has held its position at the forefront of the Billboard 200 for nine consecutive weeks, climbing to the 28th rank this week.

Since its debut on November 3, 2023, the album has become a favorite among fans and has broken several records. The solo record has become the longest-charting K-pop solo album in history on the Billboard 200, setting a new milestone.

Fans on X are taking pride in the 26-year-old singer's consistent achievement.

Remarkably, with this achievement, Jungkook becomes the first solo artist from Korea to achieve this milestone. It also surpasses the chart position held by his bandmate Taehyung, aka BTS V's Layover, which stayed on the chart for eight weeks in a row last year.

Securing 20th place in his 21st non-consecutive week on the list, Jungkook has solidified his status as the longest-charting K-pop soloist on Billboard's Artist 100. The title track of his solo album, Standing Next to You, keeps climbing the charts on Billboard's Hot 100, keeping itself afloat for nine consecutive weeks and achieving the third spot on the Digital Song Sales list.

For the uninitiated, based on digital sales and online streaming from more than 200 areas worldwide, the chart lists the top songs internationally. It was first made public in the middle of 2019 and became live in September 2020.

BTS' Jungkook's full-length solo album GOLDEN became a commercial success, especially on iTunes and Spotify. The album is also a hit in terms of album and CD sales globally. On Spotify, his songs, including Seven (feat. Latto), 3D (feat. Jack Harlow), Standing Next to You, Yes or No, and Hate You, have garnered millions of streams.

In addition, other songs from his solo album, such as Please Don't Change (feat. DJ Snake), have gained 56,119,485 streams, Closer to You (feat. Major Lazer) has 48,937,470 streams, Somebody has 46,732,963 streams, Shot Glass of Tears has 45,156,425 streams, and Too Sad to Dance has 44,428,553 streams.

Jungkook also achieved another remarkable feat as three of his singles were listed in the top 40 on Billboard's Pop Airplay list. Consequently, BTS ARMY congratulated the BTS Maknae on X and hailed him as a global pop star.

Additionally, in the ninth week of tracking, Jungkook's GOLDEN reappeared at No. 9 on the Top Current Album Sales list and secured the 11th position on the Top Album Sales chart.

Globally, 3D (with Jack Harlow) reached No. 31, Seven (featuring Latto) to No. 4, and Standing Next to You at No. 7. On the Global Excl. U.S. chart, Standing Next to You, ranked at No. 11, Seven at No. 9, and 3D at No. 42, and they were also featured in the Global 200.


The album is listed by comparing the precise periods of radio airplay with Arbitron listener statistics, and the number of cumulative audience engagements is used to rank the charts. A title's online sales are included in its sales counts and are monitored by Nielsen SoundScan.

Furthermore, for the Hot 100 chart, U.S. radio airplay, internet streaming, and physical and digital music sales are used to compile the Billboard charts. Based on these and several other parameters, the Billboard specialists compile the lists of prominent songs on respective charts.
