South Korean actress Seol Hyun bagged the Best Actress award at the 2023 Los Angeles Web Series festival for her recent slice-of-life and healing drama Summer Strike. The web series festival, held between May 4 and 5 (local time) at Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in the United States, has announced 40 winners this year.

Summer Strike is a 2022 healing drama that revolves around a girl who has suffered from the toxic culture at work and decides to move to a small town to discover the life she wants to live after her mother dies. As the drama name suggests, she strives to find peace and happiness in summer at the small seaside village of Angok.

As soon as the news broke, K-drama fans rejoiced at the win of Seol Hyun at the international web series festival and were elated that the soothing series is getting the recognition it deserves. One fan tweeted:

As soon as the K-dramas learned that Seol Hyun won the Best Actress award at the 14th annual Los Angeles Web Series Festival or LA WEBFEST, they were overwhelmed with joy.

Fans were elated that the actress has finally got the recognition for her recent work. They are also complementing the drama, saying it has that charm and innocence which is rare to see in any other drama.

Summer Strike was nominated for four categories: Best Actor, Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Actress award. The show features Im Siwan and Seol Hyun as the main leads who embark on a journey to find who they are and what kind of life they want to live after meeting each other in a library in a small town, Angok.

Fans loved the concept of introverts and the library that the drama brought into the play. Other prominent actors featured in Summer Strike are Shin Eun-soo and Bang Jae-min. The drama is helmed and penned by Lee Yoon-jung.

Other celebrities who won big at the Los Angeles Web Series festival were Devon Sawa, who won the Best Actor award for his project Somewhere Between. Hammersmith bagged the award for Best Short Series out of all genres, and BMF bagged the award for Best Long Series out of all Genres at the LA WEBFEST.

The web series festival was organized and sponsored by many major brands, including Netflix, Apple TV, ABC, and others.
