American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen recently announced his 2023 world tour dates. The first wave of tickets went on sale on July 22, and the preposterous prices have left fans fuming. The ticket prices for Springsteen’s shows are high due to a dynamic pricing system on Ticketmaster, which fans have to approve before they can go ahead with the purchase of the tickets. Dynamic pricing means that Ticketmaster can increase ticket prices in the event of a high demand for tickets, and that is exactly what's happened in Springsteen’s case.Fans are upset that the current prices on Ticketmaster for Bruce Springsteen shows are simply unaffordable and unfair. The floor tickets for the Springsteen tour are priced between $4000 to $5000 for the US show in Tampa, Florida scheduled for February 1. Currently, the general admission standing-only tickets are priced at $1125, presumably because of the high demand. Floor and lower-level seats were labeled “Official Platinum” seats on Ticketmaster. While some fans in the US have pointed out the exorbitant ticket prices, calling them absolutely ridiculous, some even tagged Springsteen in hopes that the singer would address the issue. One fan pointed out that the band Crowded House took action when they learned about the in-demand and premium ticket system. Some fans also pointed out that the prices on Ticketmaster are after-market prices usually kept on second or third-party websites.eden@WORLDL1NGWhen @CrowdedHouseHQ learned about “in-demand” and “premium” tickets being sold for their recent tour, they acted. This is similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold and is commonly referred to as “Dynamic Pricing.” Ticketmaster in its FAQ further explains that the ticket fees are determined in collaboration with its clients. However, this contradicts Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan system that required fans to register. After that, they get a code through which they can purchase a ticket at face value. This system was created to combat ticket bots, brokers and scalpers.
