“Promise you it’s not a face lift!”: Gordon Ramsay reveals bandaged face after undergoing skin cancer surgery

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay revealed he recently underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, as reported by US Weekly on August 30, 2025. The 58-year-old chef shared images on Instagram showing a bandage and stitches along the left side of his face, just below the ear, along with the caption:

“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma thank you!"

Ramsay also added a message for his followers,

"Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend. I promise you it’s not a face lift! I’d need a refund….."

Friends and well-wishers send in wishes for Gordon Ramsay following health update

Family, friends, and fans were quick to react to Gordon Ramsay’s health updates shared via Instagram. Cancer Research UK commented:

"Glad to hear you’re doing well, Gordon, and thanks for raising awareness of how important it is to stay safe in the sun. Seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen regularly and generously."

Fellow chef Megan Keno also commented:

"So glad you’re safe and thanks for the reminder."

Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly Anna also commented, “Love you Dad.” Holly Ramsay is one of six children Ramsay shares with his wife, Tana Ramsay. Their children are Megan (27), twins Holly and Jack (25), Matilda "Tilly" Ramsay (23), and Oscar Ramsay (6). The couple welcomed the youngest, Jesse Ramsay, in November 2023.

The cancer surgery is not Gordon Ramsay’s first recent health issue. In September 2024, he was involved in a serious cycling accident. Talking about the accident, he reportedly told Men’s Health UK:

"My life flashed before me. The front wheel went down a pothole, and the whole bike just catapulted me. I struggled to breathe. I thought I was going to pass out."

Gordon Ramsay was rushed to the hospital and received a CT scan, which reportedly came back negative. The chef said that recovery was difficult, recalling that he needed help from his assistant for basic tasks.

Television projects continue

Alongside his health updates, the celebrity chef has remained active with new television programming. His latest series, Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service, premiered in March 2025.

The show's format sends Ramsay undercover to observe restaurants from behind the scenes, using an employee insider as a “secret source.” By staying physically absent during regular service and returning after hours, Ramsay evaluates kitchens in their unfiltered state, with a focus on cleanliness and operations.

In season one, episode 13, Ramsay visited The Neighborhood Kitchen in Whitinsville, Massachusetts. Following Ramsay’s involvement, the restaurant adopted the name The Neighborhood Kitchen 2.0, updated its menu, and renovated its dining room. In a Facebook post, the owners described the process as “everything we dreamed of and more."

The restaurant, opened in 2021 as an extension of a nearby bowling alley, had been struggling financially due to poor food quality and unsanitary conditions. After Ramsay’s intervention, management credited the series with providing a turning point for the business. The restaurant described the intervention as a "turning point" on social media, adding that Ramsay’s team gave them a platform to relaunch.

Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service continues to follow a similar approach with other restaurants. The show extends his long-standing television role, building on concepts established in shows like Kitchen Nightmares.
