Aquaman 2 release date has been pushed from December 16, 2022 to March 17, 2023. But this is not just true for the Aquaman sequel. The world of DC blockbusters has undergone some changes in terms of release date earlier this week. DC League of Super-Pets, Black Adam, The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods all have received new release dates.
The release of the Aquaman sequel reportedly had to be delayed due to the extensive visual effects work that go into the film. Aquaman 2 director James Wan confirmed this in a Facebook post comment where he said that he would not have been able to make the initial December release date, given that the filming of the project was wrapped up just a couple of months ago.
According to Patrick Wilson's comments, it looks like the movie is going to be worth the wait:
"The movie's gonna be a blast. We had such a great time shooting it, I will absolutely say that...So every little fun moment, every goofy moment, every heartfelt moment, every action moment, some of the set pieces are unbelievable, the stunts were crazy, fighting sequences are crazy, just awesome."
Jason Momoa, who stars as Aquaman also commented on the upcoming movie,
"After we ended the first one I went in with my writing partner and we dreamed up the second one and we went in and pitched the idea. The best thing I can give you is that I love it so much that I participated in the writing of it...Instead of just like getting a script and doing that, you are 100% being encouraged by your director and co-writers."
What is Aquaman 2 all about?
The Aquaman sequel plot details have been revealed. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starts off with an ancient power being unleashed, which compels Aquaman to now forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally so that he can protect Atlantis and the world from inevitable and absolute destruction.
The film will of course see the return of Jason Momoa as the star, Aquaman. He will be accompanied by Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, and Randall Park as Stephen Shin.
James Wan, who directed the first Aquaman movie, is returning to the director's chair for Aquaman 2. The script is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick who also co-wrote the first Aquaman.
Aquaman 2 will arrive in theaters on March 17, 2022.
