Pro wrestling fans had been waiting for AEW's inaugural show, Double or Nothing. The new company took the wrestling world by storm with a stellar show at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The show had nine matches on the card and the last three matches certainly stole the show. Adam Page won the Casino Battle Royale match to earn a future world title shot, Cody Rhodes took on Dustin Rhodes, and the Rhodes brothers gave a memorable performance. However, the anticipation was sky high for the main event of the night, as Kenny Omega took on Chris Jericho.

Though the match was not as jaw-dropping as their NJPW encounter, they offered an impressive bout. The company stunned the fans when Jon Moxley attacked Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho after the latter won the main event. Moxley, who was known as Dean Ambrose in WWE, closed the show by standing tall.

Moxley is undeniably the biggest signing of AEW. Here we discuss three theories why the former WWE Champion signed for AEW.

#3 To become the ultimate face of AEW

Besides Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley is certainly the biggest name on the AEW roster. The fans were speculating that Moxley might sign for AEW after he left WWE last month. The former WWE Champion interrupted the main event, and he made a big statement on his debut.

Moxley was a big name in WWE but he was not the ultimate face of the company. It is no secret Roman Reigns is the face of WWE and he is the golden boy of Vince McMahon. Ambrose won the most coveted prize of the company but he was stuck in the upper mid-card for the most part of his career in WWE.

The scenario will be different in AEW. Since Moxley has gigantic popularity in the wrestling world, he could be the ultimate face of All Elite Wrestling. We already saw a glimpse when he took down Jericho and delivered a DDT to Omega. Moxley will dominate AEW for a long time.

#2 More creative freedom

Dean Ambrose was one of the popular characters of WWE but Vince McMahon's billion dollar company failed to utilize him properly. Earlier, Ambrose's Lunatic Fringe gimmick garnered the attention of the WWE Universe. The character was unpredictable, which made him exciting. However, it was not the same after Ambrose returned from injury last year.

Ambrose turned heel on the same night Roman Reigns announced his ailment. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose also had a feud for the Intercontinental title. With the new look, the heel turn seemed like a great move, but Ambrose was not booked well.

Ambrose's character had no direction and he was cutting substandard promos every week. Ambrose became tedious to the fans, and poor booking could be blamed for his downfall. As a matter of fact, poor booking could be the one primary reason why Ambrose decided to leave WWE.

It could be different in AEW, and Moxley might enjoy more creative freedom. Being a top star of the new company, Moxley will get significant freedom to design his character.

#1 Lighter schedule with a good paycheck

AEW is a new company, and it is bound to have a light schedule. The company landed a TV deal with TNT, and their weekly show will be aired soon. Apart from weekly shows, AEW will have less live shows.

Tony Khan, who is the president of All Elite Wrestling, mentioned that the company will not do many non-televised Live Shows. The owner has a goal to create a better work-life balance for the performers.

On the other hand, the scenario is opposite in WWE. Vince McMahon's company has a hectic schedule for the Superstars, and they are on the road for much of the year. Being the leading pro wrestling company in the globe, WWE holds many Live Shows throughout the year, and it takes a toll on the Superstars.

Since AEW is backed by a billionaire, it will offer significant money with a lighter schedule. This might have lured Jon Moxley to join Tony Khan's company. Moxley will be able to get a good paycheck and a better schedule in comparison to his previous company.
