10 WWE Superstars who should have won more championships

Take away the storylines, glamour and the glitz from professional wrestling, then it is only about half naked men fighting each other to win some gold belts. On paper, the gold belt might not sound like a big deal but there are people out there who measure a wrestler’s career with the number of title he won.All the great names in the business might not get their hands on the prized possession since some will be restricted to midcard titles while others will only get a chance or two.Despite having a colorful career, the lack of depth in their title achievements has made a lot of superstars look bad and here is a look at those names who should’ve won more titles than they actually won.

#10 William Regal

Okay, for those who does not feel that William Regal deserves to win the championship, note down this point: he is a wrestler, not an entertainer. If it was any other form of art, then we can say William Regal didn’t deserve it but since it’s wrestling, Regal deserves to have a resume filled with championships.

However, it wasn’t the case. During his lengthy run in the WWE, Regal has won only 10 championships which include 2 Intercontinental Championship, 4 European Championships and 4 tag team championships.

Regal never made it to the WWE Championship as well despite being one of the bests in the world in what he does.

#9 Rikishi

Rikishi’s image is sure to come running into the minds whenever someone talks about the Attitude Era. He had an impressive run as an Entertainer but the company never trusted him fully with championship belts.

Rikishi was the Tag Team Champion on three occasions with Rico, Scotty 2 Hotty and Samu and also was the Intercontinental Champion once. This is in a career which nearly spanned three whole decades.

He is still taking up some independent bookings here and there and it wouldn’t be a bad idea if WWE decides to bring him back for one last title run because he deserves it.

#8 Owen Hart

There is a lot of ‘What if’ scenarios with Owen Hart. He was a standout worker in between the ropes and above all that, Owen was one of the nicest persons in the business. One might argue that his title margin being thin is because of his early death but to be frank, Owen would’ve won more.

He is a two time Intercontinental Champion and a one-time European Champion while holding the Tag Team Championship on four separate occasions.

Owen had the caliber to win the WWE Championship at some point but WWE never let him reach that level and eventually, Owen became a memory.

#7 Kane

Kane is a very successful name when it comes to Tag Team Wrestling, period. He is a 9 time World Tag Team Champion alongside names ranging from X-Pac to the Undertaker.

When it comes to the singles championships however, Kane is still yet to prove his worth. He won the World heavyweight Championship, WWE Championship and ECW Championship all once while being the Intercontinental Champion twice.

It might sound like a big deal to win all the three major titles but then again, he only won them once instead of stamping his name as a credible champion.

#6 Scott Hall

Scott Hall will be remembered for many things. First of all, for his Ladder match with Shawn Michaels, then for being part of the stable that turned the business upside down and lastly, for the way he derailed his personal life.

If we ignore the last part, Hall was indeed a great worker. He had some great matches in his career even though he had a bad reputation of backstage politics.

That great work however rarely morphed into title wins since Hall only won the Intercontinental Championship four times. This is the only WWE title that he has won before his WCW run.

#5 Finlay

Ask a wrestling fan about some underrated wrestlers in the business and Finlay’s name is sure to poke up at one point or the other. He didn’t have much of a great run in the WWE but was a great in ring worker whenever he stepped in between the ropes.

The best part of Finlay’s career came when he won the United States Championship in 2006 when he defeated Bobby Lashley. After that Finlay never tasted gold.

In WCW, Finlay was a one time World Television Champion but for someone who was ranked at 33 in the PWI yearly top 500 Ranking, just one major title in his lengthy career is something that shouldn’t have been.

#4 Jake The Snake Roberts

Jake Roberts will always be known as the man who redefined in ring psychology. He pulled off some great promos throughout his career and had a lot of memorable feuds as well with a lot of big names. He is a respected name in the business but at the same time is also the representative of the dark side of it.

Roberts’ career was scarred big time by his addictions and maybe that was the reason for his downfall as well. Roberts has never won a Championship in WWE. Read that again if you want but the truth is, again, Roberts have never won gold in WWE.

The only thing he has to show in WWE is his Hall of Fame Induction last year alongside some Midcard NWA championships.

#3 Goldust

Goldust didn’t always belong to the Main event scene but he was a crucial player whenever WWE wanted him to perform. Being one of the centre characters of Attitude Era, Goldust was supposed to break out big time but he was limited here and there.

He did pile up some Hardcore championship in his WWE run but we all know how that title is won and lost. Crash Holly is a 22 Time Hardcore Champion in case you didn’t know. Goldust has won the Intercontinental title thrice while having one three Tag Team title reigns.

This takes his tally to six title reigns without the Hardcore Championship in a career that is still going strong after almost three decades.

#2 Roddy Piper

You might expect Piper to have a plethora of titles thanks to his legendary career but in reality, he has only won two titles in Vince McMahon’s promotion.

He won the Intercontinental Championship back in in 1992 Royal Rumble but later lost it to Bret Hart. The Second title of Roddy was the Tag Team Championship which came alongside Ric Flair in 2006 when they defeated the Spirit Squad in somewhat a ridiculous match.

One of the most striking revelations from this stats would be Piper never winning a WWE Championship despite being a main event name for most part of his career.

#1 Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is one of the most decorated names when it comes to professional wrestling but surprisingly, he didn’t have a good relationship with the gold. Michaels has been the WWE Champion only three times in his career which is extremely low for his status.

Apart from this, Michaels held the Intercontinental championship, World Heavyweight Championship and the European Championship but he won all of them only once.

Michaels did have some success with his tag team partners however, considering how respected he is as a singles wrestler, the number of titles in his pocket doesn’t match up to what it should have been.
