Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone played a friendly game of tennis alongside Roger FedererThe Indian Premier Tennis League in its second edition this year kicks off on 2nd December. The one-of-a-kind league sees star studded line ups in all the 5 teams. This year, there is an addition to the number of teams from 4 to 5 with the Japan Warriors playing their inaugural IPTL. They will be headed by Japanese ace Kei Nishikori, currently at World No. 7.The Indian leg starts on 10th of December in the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium being home to the Indian Aces. The team will be led this year by Rafael Nadal, who was forced to sit out the 2014 season due to injury.We profile some of the best moments from last season:

#1 Roger Federer/Aamir Khan vs Sania Mirza/Novak Djokovic

The IPTL India Leg saw its dazzling array of tennis aces, and Bollywood icon Aamir Khan was one of the many celebrities on court.

When asked by Roger Federer whom he wanted as partner for the doubles match between Djokovic and Khan, Federer jokingly replied, “the man with the muscles” pointing towards Khan.

Everyone in the crowd loved Federer’s witty reply and the fun match went on.

#2 Bollywood strikes with Akshay, Deepika and Sunil Gavaskar

Season 1 of the IPTL had different surprises for viewers each day. With Bollywood stars coming down to Delhi to watch their favourite stars play, there was another celebrity match on the same day Aamir Khan played.

Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar and Sunil Gavaskar teamed up with Roger Federer to take on World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and Indian No. 1 Sania Mirza, with Ritesh Deshmukh taking on the role of chair umpire. The crowd was on their feet to watch the stars play on the court with the greatest of the sport.

The stealer was the warmup before the match, when Deshmukh did a push up and later on to beat his own teammate, Akshay Kumar pulled out a handstand to please the crowd.

#3 Aamir serves and gets the net each time

It was time for Aamir to serve in the doubles match but it turned out that he wasn’t really able to cross the net. He served multiple times, but Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist kept faltering.

While the crowd cheered Aamir, Aamir, RF and Djoko pulled out an entertaining moment for the crowd. Constantly supporting his partner, Roger sat on the net so that Aamir could serve and Djoko helped Roger from the other side on the net. This time the Bollywood star didn’t dash the hopes of his partner and served perfectly.

#4 Gael Monfils lights up the crowd

Gael Monfils is a funny man. The French Indian Aces player left no stone unturned to amuse the crowd. The Indian Aces ended the 2014 season on top of the standings in New Delhi, and celebrated their win by dancing in front of a full house!

Monfils, known for his enthusiasm, led the pack with some shakes and shimmies. The team danced to popular Bollywood song 'Indiawale‘ as the crowd erupted in laughter.

In a doubles match, after a point, Monfils’ dance made the great Roger Federer shake a leg too.

#5 Federer and Djokovic: The inseperables

The pair with the iconic rivalry cannot be separated from each other.

They met again in the deciding match of the Indian Aces VS the UAE Royals. The match was yet again a tight one, but this time it was much merrier than before!

The current and former world no. 1s were in the mood to amuse the crowd, but finally, the point of the tournament was won by Federer with a fantastic overhead shot, thus crowning the Indian Aces as the champions of the first season.
