Attitude Era was known for overbooked matches. These matches often had chaotic booking and interferences and one of the most notable matches from the lot is the one between Dude Love and Steve Austin for the WWE championship.

The match took place at the Over the Edge pay-per-view in 1998 and Vince McMahon was hell-bent to make Dude Love win. McMahon himself was the special guest referee and apart from this, Pat Patterson had a few interferences as well.

Gerald Briscoe then tried to interfere and assist Dude Love win, but all this went in complete vain when Austin miraculously came out winning the match. It was high drama and less wrestling to be precise, but that’s what kept WWE running during those days.

Punk scored a winning pin, but Vince came out and restarted the match. Rock went on to pick up the win after the restart and the interference failed to achieve the actual purpose. It also marked the end to CM Punk’s historic 434 day reign.
