5 Reasons why Sheamus is the right champion for WWE

The best time to cash i

Sheamus is a better heel than Rollins"It's what dreams are made of. It was the most important moment of my life,"This is what Sheamus had to say about his Money in the Bank cash in at Survivor Series. Personally, it was a great moment for the Celtic Warrior, but for the WWE Universe, it was an opportunity to kick off a whirlwind of criticism at the WWE creative team. The storytelling of WWE over the past year has been crap, granted. But it doesn’t mean that making Sheamus the champion was a wrong decision. In fact, it is the best decision that the company has made in a long time. It is only natural to come up with the question ‘why?’ and this slideshow is going to try and provide an answer to that question.

#5 The best time to cash in

The money in the bank is a prized possession. WWE has managed to keep it so, despite some forgettable storylines involving it and when Sheamus won it, it was WWE’s job to come up with a credible cash in angle for him.

And Survivor Series, it presented with just that. Sheamus was literally irrelevant till the time he cashed in the contract, but once he did that, all of a sudden, he is the most talked about superstar in the business.

Now imagine, if he had cashed in at TLC, would it have caused such chaos? No, because Survivor Series is a bigger platform. WWE could have waited for him to cash in at WrestleMania if they wanted to make it bigger, but it will only elongate a storyline that we are going to see in the later slides.

#4 Better heel than Rollins

Sheamus is a better heel than Rollins

Sheamus is a better heel than Seth Rollins, period. Sheamus might not be a good microphone worker like Rollins or a great ‘wrestler’, but he is a better heel than Rollins.

This is because, heels are not supposed to have a fan base. We are supposed to hate them to the core. We should have a feeling of ‘Oh this guy does not deserve the title’. And with Rollins we did not have that very feeling.

We knew that Rollins deserved the title, he is a great wrestler, he is a great talker, and he is in fact, the perfect package. But Sheamus isn’t. Sheamus is a wrestler that we always loved to hate and with the title win, the heat on Sheamus has multiplied.

#3 Experience factor of Sheamus

He can handle the pressure

WWE is going through a torrid phase now. They have many big names sidelined due to a string of reasons and with WrestleMania in the horizon; it would be safe to say that the company is in overdrive mode.

They have no room for error at this point of time and this is exactly why they played it safe by making Sheamus the champion.

Sheamus knows what it takes to represent the WWE. He has been there and can easily tackle the pressure which will be showering on him as we move closer to WrestleMania. It is not something that Reigns, Ambrose or even Kevin Owens would have loved to have for their first title run.

#2 The stable possibility

New stable in town

Sheamus, Rusev and King Barrett are three solid heels in the company. The fact that they don’t belong to the United States of America adds more heat to their characters. From what we know now, all three men might be together all the way to WrestleMania.

This opens up a great possibility for WWE.

Instead of having their focus on the Authority supporting Sheamus, WWE could let Barrett and Rusev support him. They could form a non-American stable that keeps the WWE championship as their hostage.

Barrett and Rusev are talented names that deserve such limelight and also, it would be a different angle altogether. As mentioned earlier, this trio would be easy to hate.

#1 Best booking for Roman Reigns

Reigns now has a purpose

Sheamus is not the real winner here. The real winner here is Roman Reigns. Till Survivor Series, he had no purpose. Reigns was just running around, getting booed by the crowd, spitting planted promos, and trying to win the title.

That is not what makes a good storyline.

After what happened to him at Survivor Series, Reigns now has the motive to go after the title. It’s not just ‘I just want the title’, it is ‘I deserve the title’. This makes it easy for the fans to rally behind him.

The reaction he got when he beat up Rusev and Barrett at Monday Night Raw was the proof of it. Roman Reigns has been reborn. And what WWE needs to now is project him as the only hero who could dethrone the villainous Sheamus.

Simple storytelling with meaty characters, it always works with the wrestling fans: Something that WWE creative needs to understand.
