5 WWE superstars who kicked out of the pedigree

Jeff HardyTriple H is one of those iconic names in the wrestling business without which its history will not be complete. He has been a major player for WWE for nearly three decades and just like Hunter, his finisher is also iconic. Although Seth Rollins is currently using the same, we will still remember the move through Triple H.It goes down into the books as one of the most memorable WWE finishers, but there have been occasions where superstars kicked out of it. This list is going to take a look at these superstars who were booked so strongly by the WWE that they kicked out of the disastrous pedigree.

#6 Honorable Mention: Jeff Hardy

The 2008 edition of No Way Out Pay-Per-View saw a memorable Elimination Chamber match. Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Umaga and JBL fought inside the chamber for the No.1 contender’s position. The match finally came down to Hunter and Jeff Hardy. Hunter delivered a pedigree to Jeff but it was not enough to put him away. Triple H later won the match after pedigree onto a steel chair, but it was a great fight back from Jeff.

#5 CM Punk

CM Punk and Triple H battled in a no-disqualification match at the 2011 edition of No Way Out. If Triple H was to lose, he was supposed to step down as the COO and this added stakes to the whole scenario. These two men went on to deliver a solid match and in the end, an inference from Kevin Nash messed up the whole thing.

The reason for this being in the list is because CM Punk kicked out of the pedigree during the match. The kick out added more drama to the match and it made Triple H’s win sweeter. We were supposed to have another major match between the two at WrestleMania 30 but unfortunately, Punk decided to leave the company instead.

#4 Steve Austin

Steve Austin and Triple H have a lot of history. They were involved in a lot of storylines in the Attitude Era and all of them stood out as well. The feud between these two legends was at its epitome in the year of 2001. At No Way Out, Hunter and Austin locked horns in a three stages of hell match.

It was brutal to say the least and Hunter managed to win it in the end. He emerged victorious in two stages while Austin could only manage one. However, Austin had all the right to be proud about himself as he kicked out of the pedigree during the match.

#3 Brock Lesnar

WWE tried to sell the 2012 SummerSlam with a main event between Brock Lesnar and Triple H. Both men wanted to rip eachother apart, but it was Lesnar who came out successful. He was in a full destruction mode against Hunter. First, Lesnar kicked out of the pedigree to show how strong he is. Later, the Beast Incarnate did not sell Hunter’s finisher. This added insult to injury for Triple H.

Lesnar made Hunter tap out with the Kimura lock in the end and redefined the word “dominance” with his performance. Hunter would get his revenge later, but at SummerSlam, it was Lesnar who stood tall.

#2 John Cena

While the other superstars in the list kicked out of pedigree during pay-per-view matches, Cena achieved the same on a weekly episode of Monday Night Raw. Cena and Hunter were involved in a 20 minute epic match at the episode and during the same, Cena kicked out of the pedigree.

Triple H had the final laugh but Cena earned a lot of respect when he kicked out of the finisher. We rarely see such big matches on Raw these days and even if we do, someone kicking out of a Pedigree is not something you get to see on an everyday basis. And yes, Cena kicked out at two.

#1 Undertaker

Undertaker is a professional when it comes to kicking out of pedigrees. Taker has kicked out of Hunter’s finisher on six separate occasions and all of them were spot on when it came to adding drama to the match. Taker first kicked out of the pedigree during the 2009 No Way Out. It was during the Elimination Chamber match.

Later, Hunter challenged Taker at WrestleMania 27. During that match, Taker kicked out of the pedigree thrice. They had a rematch of the same at WrestleMania 28 and Taker kicked out of the pedigree two more times to take his grant total to six. As things stand now, Taker is the most resistant superstar when it comes to the pedigree.
