5 WWE Superstars who are paid way more than they should be

From a Giant to...this?

Tough as it is to admit, these great Giants are leaks in WWE’s treasuryThe WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion around. But, they are not as successful as they once more. The USA network deal may be fruitful but with the WWE network not being the rip-roaring success WWE hoped, it is time for WWE to begin cutting losses. They are rich, but with today's economy and wrestling's dwindling influence and ratings, it may be time for WWE to cut some corners. The reason extravagant Wrestlemania spending isn't on here is because that is WWE's biggest moneymaker and the investment there always draws disproportionately good dividends. The 20 man writing team is a waste of money. I cannot believe they employ 20 people and still come up with stories like that horrible love rectangle (UGH!). However, I will, in this list stick to superstars and divas and their spots on the roster.

#1 Big Show

From a Giant to...this?

When the Big Show debuted as The Giant in WCW, he was a big deal. Even in his attitude era run in the WWE, he was successful and feared. However, his subsequent booking with constant heel-face turns have seen Big Show become extremely stale and boring to watch.

He’s a giant and so he’s scary. He’s not scary if he’s seen crying in the ring. With bookings like that, Big Show has turned into a waste of space and is holding back younger talent by occupying main event spots (as part of The Authority, for example).

Big Show may be decent on the mic, but his body and in ring work have deteriorated beyond any possible repair. He’s reportedly on $1.5 million a year. On top of this, he gets help with road expenses, including a personal tour bus and first class travel. The Big Show is simply no longer worth a million dollar bumper contract.

#2 Eva Marie

Eye candy everywhere except in the ring

Ok. She is on $150,000 a week. That’s not insane on an average, but for Eva Marie, it’s far far too much. For a girl who is sluggish, boring and annoying on the mic as well as in the ring 150,000 is far too much money going to waste.

With the likes of Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bailey now at the forefront of WWE’s Divas division, there is simply no need for WWE to employ a glorified model who serves as a throwback to a darker time, when Kelly Kelly reigned supreme.

‘All Botch Everything’- not worth employment as a wrestler.

#3 Mark Henry

It’s a shame to see what’s become of the WSM

When he was signed, Mark Henry was handed a 10-year contract, which wasn’t a very bright decision. WWE have persisted with Henry even though memorable moments have been few and far between - Hall of Pain and the ‘fake retirement’ are the only positive ones coming to my mind. Mark Henry has never been a very good worker within the confines of the squared circle, but now his body has broken down.

Further still, Mark is jobbed out every time he shows up on RAW, usually in under 5 minutes. Recently, he has jobbed to both Neville and Rusev. Both would have been done a world of good working an actual program, rather than fighting an out of shape, fat 40-year-old. Henry’s injuries problems when added to the mix make it abundantly clear that Mark does not need to be paid almost 900,000 US dollars a year for whatever it is he now does.

#4 Jobbers

Thank God they’re no more!

Jobbers were an important part of wrestling. In the 1980’s. The world has moved on. Squash matches on Saturday Night’s Main Event are a thing of the past as now WWE has to focus on the in-ring work being superlative as well.

On the current roster, Adam Rose, Cameron, Rosa Mendes, Los Matadores, Tamina, Zack Ryder, Bo Dallas, Heath Slater etc. are barely on TV and when they show up, they are soundly beaten.

The problem is that they have been jobbers for a long time and now have that ‘loser’ tag associated with them. Clearly, they will never be taken seriously again. Thus, it makes sense for WWE to ‘future endeavour’ them and save some money.

#5 Brock Lesnar

Remember this?

Ok, this one is a little controversial. Brock is a big draw for WWE but he comes at a frightfully steep price. For his very limited schedule, Brock costs WWE well over a million dollars a year. When they worked on the PPV model, it still made some sense. But, WWE are wasting money now on Brock with the advent of the WWE network. Brock can no longer impact buy rates as WWE holds on to network subscirbers throughout the year.

The major problem with Brock is his limited schedule. It becomes incredibly frustrating when he appears on RAW and does absolutely nothing aside from stand behind Paul Heyman and smile scarily. When he does that, he comes across as a colossal waste of money.
