5 WWE Superstars that the IWC should stop hating on

Roman Reings

John CenaThe Wrestling fan base has undergone some drastic changes over the years. Fans that trade tapes and read magazines are in danger of being extinct these days. The boom of Internet and social media is to blame for the same. While these traditional fans are no longer under the limelight, another category has stolen the show, The Internet Wrestling Community. The keyboard warriors that have an opinion on everything and anything that happens in the wrestling world have been a major factor for WWE over the last decade as they act as both an advantage and a disadvantage. The disadvantage part comes when these fans try to imprint their opinion on others and target particular wrestlers. Although everyone has the right to express their opinions, influencing and targeting can lead to a lot of headaches. The IWC, in particular loves to hate certain wrestlers and we are going to take a look at them and analyze why IWC should stop doing the same.

#5 Roman Reigns

Roman Reings

The case of Roman Reigns and the IWC is pretty interesting. They were firmly behind him to win the Royal Rumble before WrestleMania 30 because he was going up against Batista. IWC clearly didn’t want Batista to win and at the same time, Reigns was touted to be the next big thing by IWC itself. A year later, the tables turned. Reigns was tagged as the new John Cena and IWC started hating him for his shortcomings.

Granted Reigns is not a great talker and is not Daniel Bryan when it comes to in-ring technicality, but no one can take away the hard work that Reigns puts in. Anyone who has seen the Documentary on Shield would understand how hard Reigns worked to reach where he is now. He learned his way through the business and had all the right to be on top, but since he was up against an Internet darling in the form of Daniel Bryan, the fans started to hate Reigns.

#4 The Authority

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

The Authority storyline has been running for nearly two years now. It reached its peak value with the Daniel Bryan situation before WrestleMania 30 and then found success with the SummerSlam angle with Sting. After this, the Authority has been in a downward spiral which has earned them some hate from the Internet. Most fans are calling for a change but take a moment to think about it.

WWE is yet to build a credible heel name apart from the Authority and until they do the same, the Authority should be there. Also, powerful performers like Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are hard to avoid on the current roster. The storylines is a bit stale, but that doesn’t mean it should be ended all of a sudden.

#3 Big Show

Big Show

‘Please Retire’ is the chant that breaks out whenever Big Show comes out to wrestle. These chants are the biggest example of how an opinion spreads like wildfire. Big Show is miles away from his prime, period. However, he is still an accomplished name in the business. Not many wrestlers have a better resume than the Giant and it is about time that we acknowledge that.

He is a former WWE, WCW and ECW Champion and at the same time, is one of the best options WWE has, to put over young talent. Pairing Big Show with some upcoming name or having him feud with some youngster would still be a great booking move. Also, Show has some solid microphone skills that you don’t find in every wrestler these days.

#2 John Cena

John Cena

John Cena is perhaps the most hated superstar when it comes to the IWC. They hate him for not changing his character, they hate him for not turning heel, they hate him for winning every match, they hate him for kicking out at two, they hate him for not putting over young talent, they hate him for his politics, and they hate him for the quake that happened yesterday in Mars.

Now, on the flip side, you have John Cena, who is the face of WWE. A man who could take the easy route out like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and be a Hollywood star, A man who could only work in major pay-per-views like Brock Lesnar. Despite being able to do all these, Cena works around the clock for 365 days every year. He even does live shows. Now if the IWC fans cannot respect the man for all these efforts, then there is a big problem.

#1 Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon

Everything WWE screws up an episode of Monday Night Raw or a pay-per-view, the usual blame goes on Vince McMahon. The IWC holds him responsible for everything that is happening in the WWE and to an extent they are right. The final call always belonged to Vince but hating him for just this is a big mistake. First of all, Vince is the reason why we have WWE in the first place. It was his brilliance that helped WWE survive all the rocky situations and he deserves a lot of credit for the same.

And if the hate is based on WWE being PG, then IWC should understand that WWE is a global phenomenon and they have sponsors to please. Also, we are getting to see better matches in PG era compared to the 3 minute bouts that we got in Attitude Era. Most importantly, It is Vince McMahon’s company, he can do whatever he wants.
