5 WWE Superstars who had odd jobs before being in WWE

John Cena and Cryme Tyme used some euphemism here

CaptionThe title of this article has a hint of a paradox in it. Calling a job odd before being a part of a job that is indeed very strange itself is quite a statement. In the midst of poetic devices, however, in the case of these five WWE Superstars, it would appear to be accurate. For those who wouldn't call these jobs 'odd', or indeed, have these jobs themselves, let's consider them to be unorthodox. For some of the entries on this list, they have had more than one unorthodox job (other than being a wrestler, of course)! Some may not even be strange jobs, but for the wrestler in question, it might seem that way.Let's take a look at five WWE Superstars who have had an odd job or jobs, in the past.

#1 John Cena - Limo driver

John Cena and Cryme Tyme used some euphemism here

How ironic that a man who once destroyed John Bradshaw Layfield’s limousine was once a driver of one.

John Cena, in fact, has had numerous professions before becoming a professional wrestler. It is well known that he was a body builder (and still is), and he has even stated in an interview leading up to WrestleMania 31 that he once worked as a bouncer for a bar, likely because of his size due to his bodybuilding.

None has been as crazy, however, as him being a limo driver, mostly because of his status. John Cena, as mentioned earlier, has destroyed a limousine before, and in real life, is a man fond of muscle cars, a collector in fact. Somebody with those attributes and that frame, driving a limousine? Seems crazy, doesn’t it?

#2 Maven - Middle school teacher

Can you imagine Maven as a teacher?

Even though Maven wasn’t as successful as he should have been in WWE, and even in professional wrestling a few years after that, he did have two jobs, before wrestling, and after.

Before winning the first season of Tough Enough back in 2001, Maven was a middle school teacher at Twality Middle School in Tigard, Oregon.

After his four-year run with the WWE in which he can credit three Hardcore Championships to his name, he had a small stint in the Independent circuit and retired in 2007. In 2012, he was arrested for the use of oxycodone and hydrocodone but was bailed out.

It has been apparent that he works as a bouncer now, but has recently returned to professional wrestling and has re-debuted at Brian Myers' Create A Pro Wrestling Academy in Long Island, New York, not too long ago.

#3 Victoria - Doctor (?)

Victoria has had numerous occupations

There’s a reason for the question mark.

Before Victoria was a wrestler, she was a body builder and fitness coach. This seems normal for a professional wrestler. It was her other job that was strange. She won numerous competitions to her name, but before this, she had a job at a tissue bank.

In her job, she would disect the internal organs of recently dead people in order for them to be used for transplantation. It would be understood if you gagged reading that. Outside of this, Victoria has also been an entrepreneur, owning a restaurant and a custom car shop which was tragically destroyed in a fire in 2010.

She’s had her fair share of occupations!

#4 Raven - Numerous

Raven in WCW

Raven has been a popular wrestler in his long and storied career. He’s one that didn’t make it big in WWE but made it big almost everywhere else he went.

However, Raven is also someone who has had numerous jobs outside of wrestling, and a lot of it is something he says he enjoyed and excelled in. Just like John Cena, Raven was once a limousine driver. He was also a bus boy in several restaurants, and also was a bodyguard at one point. He has also been stated to have been a Police officer.

After getting into wrestling, Raven was able to explore his own choices of other jobs. Being a huge comic book fan, he also wrote Spider-Man’s Tangled Web #14: The Last Shoot, in which the main protagonist was a wrestler, who was defeated by Peter Parker.

#5 The Miz - Mainly show business

The Miz is known for his microphone skills

The Miz has been a hit-and-miss wrestler, to say the least. The decision to make him WWE Champion and have him main event WrestleMania XXVII is one that is criticised to this day, and a lot of it is due to the fact that The Miz comes from the surreal world of reality television.

His reality television debut came in 2001, when he appeared in MTV’s The Real World, and then went on to star in Battle Of The Seasons, The Gauntlet, Battle Of The Sexes, Battle Of The Sexes 2 and Inferno 2.

Oddly enough, The Miz entered WWE thanks to reality television, in the form of Tough Enough. He went on to be one of the last two, but would lose. The Miz would earn a WWE contract, and even there, he was doing things like hosting the WWE Divas’ Search, and as of now, most of his appearances are with him hosting Miz TV.
