Best matches of Sheamus at SummerSlam

Mark Henry vs. SheamusSheamus is all set to face Randy Orton at this year’s SummerSlam. The two superstars have been in a storyline for quite some time now and all of it is going to come down to the match on Sunday. As things stand now, both the superstars are going to fight to settle their personal disputes even though WWE had the chance to include the Money in the Bank briefcase on the line.This is a big opportunity for Sheamus to build some momentum before his actual cash-in and he is likely to embrace the pressure. Over the years, the Celtic Warrior has had some memorable matches at SummerSlam and here is a rundown on them.

#3 Sheamus vs. Randy Orton (2010)

Sheamus and Randy Orton provided the main feud from Raw Brand for 2010 SummerSlam. Sheamus was the champion and Orton earned his chance to face Sheamus by defeating Edge and Chris Jericho in a triple threat match. To make the match more interesting, WWE added two stipulations. First, anyone who interfered in the match was going to get suspended. And second, if Orton lost the match, he would not receive another shot at Sheamus.

After a physical match, WWE decided to end the outing cheaply when they allowed to take Orton walk away with a win through disqualification. Five years later, Orton and Sheamus will once again lock horns at SummerSlam and hopefully this time around, it won’t be a disqualification ending.

In 2012, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio engaged in a lengthy feud for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Sheamus was the reigning champion back then and Del Rio had many chances to win the title but every time, Sheamus found a way to retain the title. Del Rio demanded one more match and got it at SummerSlam after a lot of trouble.

It was a to and fro match at the pay-per-view and in the climatic sequence, Sheamus pulled of an Irish Curse Breaker and went for the pin. Del Rio had his foot on the rope, but the referee did not see this and Sheamus went home with the win.

The summer of 2011 saw the first shades of a baby face Sheamus. Sheamus faced off with Mark Henry during the time and Henry, unlike now, was on a rampage back then. Henry and Sheamus feuded for some time and set up a match at the 2011 edition of SummerSlam. Everyone expected it to be another forgettable outing for these two men, but they ended up stealing the show.

Sheamus and Henry engaged in a brutal brawl. The best part came when Henry tackled Sheamus through the barricade to knock him out. Henry came back into the ring and the Celtic Warrior was unable to get back into the ring before the ten count.
