Rating the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) teams

The first edition of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) is set to begin on 28th November. The tournament features the world’s best players teaming up with upcoming young talent. They will represent four teams – Manila Mavericks, Singapore Slammers, Micromax Indian Aces and UAE Royals. The first leg of the tournament is going to kick off in Manila on the 28th of November with the Micromax Indian Aces facing the UAE Royals in the first match. Here is the list of four teams and its players. We will probably get an idea of which team looks the strongest and who is expected to win.

#1 Manila Mavericks

Andy Murray and Maria Sharapova will be leading the team in singles. Murray will be supported by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who is looking to be fit for the tournament. The doubles specialist in the team is Daniel Nestor, while Carlos Moya will play in the legends category.

This team looks like the tournament’s dark horses.

They kick off their campaign against the UAE Royals on 28th December.

#2 Singapore Slammers

World No. 1 Serena Williams will be supported by eight time Grand Slam winner Andre Agassi and World no. 7 Tomas Berdych. Young prospect Nick Kyrgios will be looking to cause some upsets during the tournament. Brazilian Bruno Soares will hope to give the team a good start in doubles.

The Slammers look a strong outfit and are serious title contenders for the first season.

They start their campaign against Micromax Indian Aces on 28th November.

#3 Micromax Indian Aces

Two of the greatest players ever, Roger Federer and Pete Sampras will be spearheading the Micromax Indian Aces. Gael Monfils is in excellent form after his win over Federer in the Davis Cup final. Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza are the Indian players in the team. They will be bolstered by the crowd support in Delhi. Sania is in exceptional form winning the U.S Open mixed doubles title and the WTA Tour Finals.

#4 UAE Royals

The team from the middle-east will be lead by World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. 2014 U.S Open champion Marin Cilic is back after an injury. Eugenie Bouchard and Caroline Wozniacki are formidable competitors in women’s singles, while doubles veteran Nenad Zimonjic will look to win his doubles matches. They will all have the support of Goran Ivanisevic.

They are an extremely dangerous team and could be the ones to lift the title.
