Top 5 WWE Superstars of the month: October 2015

Slowly making his ascent to the top

Where does Kane stand?WWE Superstars have ups and down in their careers, and it's pretty obvious that some periods are better than others for all wrestlers. It could be because of momentum, story, or wrestling, there are instances where someone is more over than another individual, and this article looks at the five wrestlers who have had the best spell in October. This has, in fact, been quite difficult to do. There have been quite a few wrestlers who have had spotlight recently; new stars, returning veterans, part-timers and the regulars. That's made the honourable mentions list pretty long. The focus of October, of course, will be around Hell In A Cell, but also on the overall performance of the wrestler throughout the month. This is opinionated, so it may not agree with your opinion.Honourable mentions:KaneThe UndertakerThe New DayDean Ambrose

#5 Kevin Owens

Slowly making his ascent to the top

Kevin Owens hasn’t done anything specacular this month, except silently stay on top of the mountain. As the Intercontinental Champion, he has a lot of weight on his shoulders, especially with the supposed ‘curse’ that comes with the championship, but so far he has handled it well.

He topped Ryback at Hell In A Cell, and Cesaro on the Raw following, and even though he was pinned later in the night, there was something to be taken away from it. Towards the end of the match, Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns had a staredown, and the pop it received was an indication of how over both men are.

Expect big things between both of them in the future. It should be incredible to watch.

#4 Seth Rollins

A right to relax

Kane may have been the star in the build-up to Hell In A Cell, but at the end of the day, the victor was Seth Rollins.

Although, the booking for it was a bit odd. Throughout the month, Kane was made to look like a monster whenever he had the mask on. Seth Rollins was afraid of him, and would try to flee whenever he was around.

In the match though, Rollins was on top from start to end, and pinned Kane with no assistance or heel tactic for the victory. Rollins may have looked strong, but it was out of place.

In any case, Rollins did win fair, and he is still WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and still on a roll.

#3 Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar rose above The Undertaker

October was advertised as Brock Lesnar’s month, with his Go To Hell Tour being marketed heavily. He arguably had only three key appearances in the month, but they were all important.

His first was at WWE’s Madison Square Garden event, where he beat The Big Show and didn’t look back. Then, post the final Raw before Hell In A Cell, he was a guest on the Stone Cold Podcast, and his final appearance was at Hell In A Cell, and to put it softly: Hell broke loose.

The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar arguably outshined all of their previous meetings and tore the house (and ring) down. Lesnar was pushed to his limits and in the end, the match was booked right. Lesnar simply couldn’t lose.

It might be a while until we see Lesnar again, but with the increased number of appearances, it shouldn’t be as long as it would have been a year ago.

#2 Alberto Del Rio

What a shock!

Alberto Del Rio has only had three appearances on television, but he’s shaken the world already.

More than a year ago, Del Rio was released by WWE (in a time when the company was laying off a lot of its personnel) for reportedly slapping a backstage employee for directing racial comments towards him.

Since then, Del Rio has been around the Independent circuit, even winning the AAA Championship and appearing on Lucha Underground.

Last month, there were rumours running around in the week leading into Hell In A Cell that Del Rio had signed a new contract with WWE and was set to return, but that seemed awfully out of place considering how both parties fell apart.

Then came Hell In A Cell and for the first time in a long, long time, John Cena opened the show. The answer to his United States Championship Open Challenge was expected to be Tyler Breeze, Dolph Ziggler or Dean Ambrose, according to rumours, but mouths were left ajar when Mexico’s Greatest Export made his return, and stole the headlines.

But that wasn’t it with Del Rio. He beat John Cena as easy as pie, something which only a handful of people have done before, and is now the United States Champion.

What a return.

#1 Roman Reigns

Finally on top?

What a time to be Roman Reigns!

He could have been as high as he is now months ago, but things were different then. He has support now. Reigns has had a spectacular month, and perhaps the highlight of it for him came towards the end.

Not only did he beat Bray Wyatt in a brilliant Hell In A Cell match, but the next night, he became the Number One Contender for Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

November could indeed also belong to Roman Reigns. He’s on a roll, and looks to be for a while.
