#5 Tatanka

The only thing that the fans would remember about Tatanka is probably his winning streak. But it could have been an entirely different scenario if Shawn Michaels had agreed to drop the Intercontinental championship to him.

The championship match between the two happened back when Tatanka was having his undefeated run and everyone expected him to win the title. Michaels did not like the idea and came out with a count out finish so that Tatanka would retain his streak without winning the gold. It was a shock ending to the match and if it wasn’t for Michaels, we would have heard a lot more about Tatanka.

#4 Vader

Vader will be mostly remembered for the days he had in WCW. He however did have a stint in WWE, where he turned out to be a victim of Kliq. Vader had some promising feuds during his initial days in the WWE and Shawn Michaels was one among his opponents.

Michaels and Vader had some famous matches in company back in 1996 and since Michaels was not very fond of facing Vader in between the ropes, he started throwing some real punches during the match.

This made Vader furious and he did not hold back his anger. Soon, Vader was marked by the Kliq and within no time, Vader was transformed into a jobber. He soon asked for a release and went to Japan

#3 Chris Candido

A lot of fans out there would find it hard to recognize Candido as he was not one of those celebrated names in the business. Candido had stints in ECW, WCW, TNA and WWE before his untimely death in 2005 and his career in WWE would have been much more memorable if it wasn’t for the Kliq and Shawn Michaels.

Michaels was in an alleged relationship with the real life Wife of Candido, Sunny and it apparently left Candido heartbroken. Apart from this, he got some constant ribbing from Kliq to a point where he even thought about suicide. There was clearly a lot of legitimate heat between Candido and Michaels but the story remains unfinished, since Candido passed away.

#2 Shane Douglas

Shane Douglas was one of those wrestlers who had everything needed to succeed in the business. His career however reached the height it should have reached and Michaels had his contributed to this. Douglas was a big star back in ECW and was soon snatched up into the big leagues. This however turned out to be a big mistake from his side.

He was a victim of the infamous Kliq during his run in WWE. Shane was supposed to win the Intercontinental championship from Shawn in the mid-90s but instead of putting over the youngster, Shawn just forfeited his title. Just weeks later, Shane dropped the title to Razor Ramon, who was another member of the Kliq. The entire chaos seemed like a plot to bury Shane and it worked out pretty well.

#1 Bret Hart

And then, we have the Montreal Screwjob- the greatest betrayal in WWE history. It was a night where a hometown hero was screwed by the boss and Vince McMahon, the greatest heel in sports entertainment history was born. And to carry out his plan, he required the services of his foot soldier, Shawn Michaels.

Although it was a point where Bret Hart was about to leave WWE in order to join WCW, it made an immediate impact on the Canadian’s career. Originally intended to win the title, Vince changed the entire game during the match when he called the referee to ring the bell while Michaels had Hart locked in his Sharpshooter.

Bret spat on Vince as he was furious over what went down. It was reported that the two had a big confrontation backstage after which Bret walked out on a bitter note. He came back in 2010 but in a shape which was far from “The Best there ever was.” Nonetheless, even though he had a legendary career, he was easily overshadowed by Michaels’ longer stay in the company.
