5 crazy ideas of Vince McMahon that almost happened

Vince McMahon is known as a pioneer in the world of professional wrestling. Arguably the greatest promoter of all time, he has withstood the test of time, and came out knocking every competitor out of business. Vince McMahon revolutionized the industry, and with his hunger for success and his ambition of getting into Hollywood, the chairman of the WWE turned the business upside down when he globalized his organization, and has since come up with some of the most innovative and groundbreaking ideas.Hence, it would surprise quite a few people to know that not all of Vince’s ideas were as smart or revolutionary. With the idea of delivering outrageous storylines and car crash TV, Vince McMahon had some of the most astonishing ideas that nearly came true.During a recent interview, former WWE and World Heavyweight champion, Dave Batista spoke about how his character was almost tweaked, to make him a ‘rape child’, which thankfully didn’t happen. In this article, we look at similar incidents which almost came true.

#5 Vince McMahon challenges Dana White at WrestleMania

UFC has been competing with the WWE for a while now, and although both the organizations continue to rubbish the talk of their feud, the fact that Vince McMahon didn’t allow CM Punk to walk a UFC fighter to the Octagon, and WWE brought Ronda Rousey and the Four Horsewomen to SummerSlam this year say otherwise. UFC has been the undisputed king of the PPVs for a couple of years now, and if Dana White’s claims are to be believed, the chairman of the WWE called him up and challenged him to a fight at WrestleMania back in 2010 – 2011.

Dana White went on record, saying Vince McMahon asked Dana to do a cross – promotional fight at the biggest event of 2011, but Dana expressed his disinterest in the whole ordeal. It makes little to no sense for UFC to do such an event with the WWE, which is a scripted sport. But it speaks volumes about the nearly 70 year old boss, who wanted to put his health and safety on the line just to drag eyeballs and get mainstream attention.

#4 Vince McMahons distaste for Christians looks

Let’s face it – Christian is one of the most underrated performers in the history of the business, and the former World Heavyweight champion will always remain as one of WWE’s biggest mistakes. Christian was the number one heel back in 2005 in the WWE, and with WWE showing little to no interest in putting the title on him, he left the company for TNA, but eventually returned to the company, only to be underutilized yet again.

WWE’s former lead writer Alex Greenfield once stated during an interview that while he was on a plane with the chairman of the board, Vince came up with the idea of putting a blue dot on Christian’s face every time he made his way out to the ring! According to Alex, Vince thought Christian’s face was “ratty”, and wanted to put a blue dot on his face to avoid looking at him. Thankfully, that never happened, and Christian went on to become a two time World champion – and still one of the most underrated superstars in the company’s history.

#3 Melina as a transsexual

Melina was arguably one of the sauciest divas in the WWE, and although she left the company on bad terms, she was quite successful during her run with the organization. Although, things wouldn’t have been the same had WWE decided to go in a different direction. Melina wasn’t one of the most likable people backstage to say the least, and she rubbed quite a few people in the wrong way. Besides, her alleged affair with Dave Batista and her run ins with the management, including her throwing a hissy fit at Trish earning a spot on the WrestleMania card instead of her didn’t do her any favors.

Apparently, the WWE management and Vince McMahon wanted to introduce her as a transsexual character to the WWE Universe, but Stephanie McMahon shot down the idea, due to the fear of getting negative publicity. At the end of the day, that was the smartest decision for both the parties involved.

#2 Goldust and the breast implants

If rumors are to be believed, Vince McMahon wanted Goldust to take weirdness to the extreme. Back in the 90s, the Goldust character raised quite a few eyebrows, with the son of legendary ‘American Dream’ really coming into his own as the homosexual freak in the organization. However, Vince McMahon wasn’t content with just that, and wanted Dustin Runnels to get breast implants!

Vince Russo came out with the explosive news in his autobiography, and stated that Dustin was willing to go along with it, as he believed it would put him in the spotlight. Even the master of disaster, Vince Russo claimed it was a horrible idea! He also implied that the chairman wanted the WWE crew to film the surgery, and play it on live TV! Thankfully, the idea was nixed and Goldust remained the edgy yet silicon – free freak in the company.

#1 Incestuous angle between the McMahons

Vince McMahon didn’t leave any page unturned to make the WWE a must – watch TV every week. It involved an old woman giving birth to a hand, Triple H dressing up as Kane and making love to what looked like the corpse of a dead woman, and if that still doesn’t present the complete picture, then maybe Vince McMahon’s attempt to make everyone believe that he really passed away in a limousine explosion might seal the deal.

Not all of those crazy ideas made it to TV thankfully, as one of Vince’s creations was the rumored incestuous angle between his daughter, Stephanie McMahon and himself! Stephanie, being the saner of the two, shot down the idea immediately, as she was pregnant with her first child at that time. Things didn’t end there, as Vince came up with the idea of Shane McMahon being the father of the unborn child! Stephanie once again stopped her father before any of those ideas bubbled into reality.
