5 most memorable turns from The Big Show in WWE

Big Show has seen a number of turns over the yearsJohn Cena will be known for polarizing the fans, Undertaker will be known for his streak, and Big Show, he should be known for being a WCW, WWE and ECW champion, but the fans now know him as someone who pulls off face and heel turns for no reason whatsoever. During his long career, Show has had almost 35 turns and is still going strong. The reason why the bookers continue to choose Big Show for such character turns is still a mystery but what’s done cannot be reversed. Instead, what we could do is look back and cherish those turns that WWE did not mess up. So here is a look back at those memorable turns from the Big Show.

#5 Show and the Phenom (1999)

1999 saw the debut of Big Show in WWE. He had three turns in that year and this was one of them. Show was having a baby face run after knocking out Vince McMahon. However, WWE decided to turn him heel and paired him up with the Undertaker. The pairing sounded a bit odd, but it was interesting to say the least.

Taker and Show, as a heel team went on to win the tag titles. The heel run lasted for around two months before Show turned again (we'll get to that). Show teaming up with Undertaker was the best part about the whole storyline and WWE did manage to impress their fans with the same.

#4 Big Show turns on Steve Austin (2002)

The invasion angle helped Big Show to turn face. He stayed loyal to the WWE locker room and wrestled for Team WWE in the Survivor Series match. This face run came to an end in late 2002 when Big Show joined NWO. WWE was trying to make some money out of the faction and during a tag team match that involved Big Show, Steve Austin, X-Pac and Scott Hall, Show turned on Austin by choke slamming him.

The heel run with NWO soon cooled off when the faction was disbanded due to Kevin Nash's injury. Show's heel turn ended up being a forgettable story, but knocking out Austin and joining forces with NWO was enough to make this one of his most memorable turns.

#3 Rocky Days (2000)

In his second year in the WWE, Big Show was pushed into a feud with The Rock. Big Show was a face during the time and WWE did not find it good to have two face wrestlers lock horns. So they turned Big Show heel at the Royal Rumble. Show was convinced that he had eventually come up with a video tape which showed Rock's feet touching the ground first.

This gave Show a match against Rock at No Way Out, which he won with the help from Shane McMahon. Rock got his rematch on Monday Night Raw and won the match to force a Triple Threat match between Rock, Big Show and Triple H for the WWE Championship. All these chaos happened due to Big Show's heel turn.

#2 Father is dead so you are a face (1999)

Remember the heel run that Big Show had with Undertaker? Just after that, Big Show turned face in an angle that involved Big Boss Man and Albert. And the way in which WWE stamped Big Show's babyface turn was idiotic and funny at the same time. Big Boss Man appeared at the funeral of Show's father and started reciting an offensive poem.

Afterwards, Big Boss Man chained the coffin away leaving Big Show in a pretty awkward situation. Show later faced big Boss Man and his allies in a four on one handicap match and went on to win it. But the segment at the funeral is what made the fans happy. It was another reason to love the Attitude Era.

#1 Show turns on Team Raw (2009)

Back when the Brand split was in full force, WWE used to have some excellent SmackDown vs. Raw matches. The 2009 Bragging Rights pay-per-view saw a similar match. Team SmackDown had the likes of Chris Jericho, Kane, R-Truth, Matt Hardy, Finlay and the Hart Dynasty. Team Raw, on the other hand, had Big Show, DX, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry.

Team Raw seemed destined to win, but the twist in the tale came thanks to Big Show. Show turned on his teammates towards the end of the match and gifted the win to Team SmackDown. Seeing someone betray his teammates is nothing new in WWE and Show did the job perfectly as well.
