5 ways to make sense of Bad News Barrett losing his matches

There have been one question raised ever since Bad News Barrett started losing matches after becoming the Intercontinental Champion. And that’s ‘Why?’Why is it that a gimmick that was over to begin with has been given to take the burden of losing matches and why do all his reigns not have a single memorable moment? All this seems to have made him lose his momentum, which is a disappointment since he is one of the few fun characters on the main roster. There may be a silver lining there after all. If you think about it, there is. Here are five ways to justify his losing streak.

#5 He\'s a heel after all

In the realms of the WWE, which is still more fictional than non-fictional, Bad news Barrett has always been a gimmick suited for a heel. And that is quite apparent. The audience is supposed to boo this character out of the building. And since he’s losing matches that means that he is not a credible champion and that he does not deserve to carry it around his waist or on his shoulder or be anywhere near it.

That makes one want to see his opponent win the title even more.

#4 Ambrose\'s momentum

Barrett is up against the most popular WWE superstar of the past year. And Ambrose has, since last year, lost most of his momentum thanks to his wayward feud with Bray Wyatt. But now Ambrose is back to winning matches and even though he hasn’t won a PPV match since having a main roster singles’ career, Barrett’s losing streak makes people want to see him win the Intercontinental title all the more.

Barrett’s losing streak is worse than Ambrose’s losing streak. And slowly but steadily Ambrose is gaining back momentum and come Wrestlemania his momentum will be as high as ever.

#3 So much Bad news

As seen on Raw, karmically Bad News Barrett may be in for some bad news of his own. He’s been defeated by R-Truth, Sin Cara and Dolph Ziggler and on Monday it looked like R-Truth may get a chance at the IC Title as well. Ambrose brushed past Ziggler and that may be symbolic of a future feud between the two. Anyway, it looks like Barrett is the target for many a men and it may really begin to feel like a one vs all situation. How ironic that the messenger of Bad News is in receipt of some bad news of his own.

#2 Potential for a lot of heel heat

Just imagine if at the biggest stage of them all, Barrett retains his title, in some way, by hook or by crook. What happens? A lot of heel heat. That’s what

Barrett will be receipt of some tremendous heel heat. And WWE will be blamed for booking it this way and take away so much from Ambrose. That may not happen but what if Barrett keeps attacking Ambrose and keeps screaming for a title match etcetra. That’ll be much more logical and that will make people think again- ‘Why? You lost and you never won it clean in the first place’

#1 Relevance of the title

You may be thinking that Barrett losing so much is making the IC title look bad but Ambrose’s chase for the title is bringing back the lost relevance but one needs to think again.

Ambrose is one of the most popular stars on the roster. He’s certainly getting eyes on the IC title scene. And then, add to that he’s making it fun. He’s different and entertaining and intense whenever the moment calls for it. He’s made holding the title some serious business. And the audience is responding accordingly.

With that this match may be on many a watch list come Wrestlemania.
