The Beast made his intentions clear on RAWGuess, it’s imperative to have Vince McMahon on Raw again since most top tier superstars are now injured. He kicked off Raw with Stephanie McMahon, almost trying to dance and power walk at the same time while most of the male performers of the roster stood there to witness what these two had to say.The absence of the female performers meant that this was something related primarily to the Royal Rumble. Reigns had to walk out and thus began the theme of the night – One vs All.Well, that’s also the theme at play at the Royal Rumble since Reigns will be defending his title at in the 30-man Royal Rumble match. Here are the 5 Promising developments from this episode of Raw
#1 Officially, so!
Lesnar, in his own way, made it clear that he is going to be a part of the Royal Rumble match this year.
He will be one of the 30 men to compete in that match and this will only be his second appearance in such a scenario. Last time he did that – he won – eliminating The Undertaker in 2003. This year, he stands to take on the championship from the same man he was defending that title against at Wrestlemania 31.
He took out everyone and Reigns in the main event. Reigns smiling welcomed this proposition.
#2 Hall of Fame 2016
You know that Wrestlemania is just around the corner when they start announcing the inductees to the Hall of Fame.
This year’s first inductee is Sting. Well, if this is an indication that he’ll be retiring soon, then it’s going to be quite a bittersweet moment, but for someone who had a successful wrestling career despite not being in the WWE for years, it’s quite a great achievement.
And he certainly is the right choice to kick off Wrestlemania season. What a moment that’s going to be when he speaks on the Hall of Fame podium!
#3 Lynched!
Can’t believe that this is happening, but we’re into the second week of the year and the main roster is certainly writing storylines for their female performers much better than they ever have.
They are actually developing a total heel and total babyface character. Becky Lynch interfered what could have been a very typical match between Charlotte and Brie Bella and beat the hell out of the champion.
She declared: “I’m taking your championship and I’m taking your arm with me’
But what really electrified this already well written feud is the Becky Lynch promo backstage after this attack. She was all fired up and felt betrayed by somebody who she thinks is using her Hall of Famer father to do the talking for her. You really gte that sense of empathy towards Becky and she is all the more determined now to take the title away from Charlotte after making her tap out on Smackdown.
#4 Flair and Square
Charlotte isn’t known to be a great talker. Her promos have been average at best, but this night was different.
It’s like the pieces have finally fallen into place since she embraced being a heel. This was a really good promo, not just by Charlotte levels, but general levels of a good promo. It was short and cemented her position as the absolute villain.
She said there is no room for sentiments and that Lynch is in no position to dictate her life for her. She said all of that after giving herself high praises for being the ‘strongest, determined and the most dominant’ female performers in the business.
Also, she was just appalled to be attacked by Becky before her match even began and let Daddy do all the talking for her – telling everyone that she is not in the right mindset to compete, and walked out of a match and blamed it all on Lynch.
A champion, indeed!
#5 Feel good moment
A few days after he defeated Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match at Smackdown, Kalisto was back to face the same man but this time for the title.
The match unraveled into something awesome that we have definitely missed since Del Rio’s big return to the WWE. But Kalisto shocked the world by actually winning the match and the title and We now have a new United States Champion. Don’t know where this will go but this was certainly a welcome surprise.
A definite feel- good moment.
