Finding something that worked on this episode of Raw is like looking for a diamond in the rough. This wasn't the best episode of RAW. It can well be considered one of the worst, to be honest.But, despite all of this, the matches and the storylines taking shape in the women’s division are something that completely worked this week. They seemed all the more effective on an appalling show as this.We can only hope that this continues and morphs into something better. Also, the most over tag team at the moment also helped this sinking show. Here are the 3 things that worked on this episode of WWE RAW -
#1 Strategy
Arguably, the most effective moment of the night wasn’t The Nature Boy walking with his daughter Charlotte to the ring but the moment he distracted the referee after Charlotte faked an injury and went on to beat Becky Lynch.
Backstage, Charlotte had the best possible explanation to it all. She called it strategy and explained that that’s how things work on the main roster. Charlotte showed some character development and in this moment, Lynch seemed more of a babyface as the reluctant friend who goes on to value friendship than focus on what transpired in the ring.
Charlotte, on the other hand, looked great giving out some tough love.
#2 Increased attention
Sasha Banks, it is no doubt, is the one getting all the adulation and attention of the fans and, it seems, the company as well. She has been singled out as a performer to watch out for and she dismantled Brie Bella last night.
What’s more? Well, during the Charlotte vs Becky Lynch match, there was just a glimpse of Banks watching the match, trying to care. And Paige proclaimed on commentary that Banks could only wish to be in her place fighting for the title.
It increasingly looks like she’s nect in line to fight for the championship
#3 New Day.
They tried to put Sheamus over by having The New Day sing his songs of heroism in the name of this week’s lesson in positivity. They also had new day on commentary later on, which was hilarious.
They also had New day in the main event with the League of nations. They were also seen promoting a product.
All of this may well move into the category of being over- exposed which is true. But the fact remains- New Day is the most over gimmick in the tag team division right now and the most consistently awesome gimmick on the main roster.
WWE just tried to take advantage of that. To their credit, it worked most of the time too.
