WWE Royal Rumble 2016: 5 things that should not happen at the pay-per-view

McMahon should have a big role in the match

He should not retainThe 2016 edition of Royal Rumble is just days away. The marquee pay-per-view of WWE will officially kick-start the road to WrestleMania and it is expected to be a stellar one, considering the situation that WWE is in. With some major superstars out due to injury, WWE is likely to make some controversial and surprising booking decision at the pay-per-view.This desperation mode, however, could lead to some irreversible mistakes on the longer run. To avoid such plot holes, WWE should ‘not do certain things at the 2016 Royal Rumble. So here are those possible decisions that WWE should avoid making in the pay-per-view.

#5 Keeping Vince McMahon out

McMahon should have a big role in the match

Vince McMahon is one of the best heels in WWE history.

He was out of television for a long time and recently returned to put over Roman Reigns. The whole idea worked out pretty well for everyone and now, it would be best if WWE keeps Vince McMahon in the programming as a regular character.

Not letting him get involved in the Royal Rumble match would be a big mistake from the creative team. He could be a major turning point in the Rumble match. Also, Vince needs to stay around till WrestleMania now that most of WWE’s priced assets are sitting home due to injury.

#4 Undertaker in the Rumble match

Taker should not be in the Rumble match

The Rumble match has enough credibility in it to sell tickets on its own. It is the concept that sells the match and not the name of superstars that get involved. So if WWE has any plans of bringing in Undertaker into the Rumble match, they should reconsider this decision.

Firstly, Undertaker in the Rumble match could give two possible outcomes – he could either win it, or he could get eliminated. If Taker wins it, he will compete for the WWE championship at WrestleMania.

In such a case, WWE will have to spend the star power of Taker in a match which already has the star power of the WWE championship.

In the second scenario, Taker gets eliminated by someone. If this happens, the fans are going to jeer the winner just like we saw with Reigns at the 2015 Rumble match.

#3 Help for Roman Reigns

He should be a lone wolf

It’s every man for himself at the Rumble match. And since this year’s Rumble match will be fought for the WWE championship, the stakes are even higher.

This is an ideal opportunity for WWE to portray Roman Reigns as the lone wolf. Up until till now, he had the support of Dean Ambrose and The Usos throughout this war against Authority.

WWE should put a full stop to this at Royal Rumble. The stories of Daniel Bryan and Steve Austin were successful because they fought alone. It will work for Reigns as well. Reigns shouldn't get any support from Usos or Ambrose at Rumble match, and if he gets it, there will be no progress to his character at the Rumble.

#2 The debut of AJ Styles

Royal Rumble is not the right place

The rumors about AJ Styles making his WWE debut soon are flooding the internet. Some say that he has already signed with WWE and while others opine that he is yet to agree to a deal.

Another major rumor that is floating around suggests that AJ Styles will make his debut at the Royal Rumble. AJ Styles making his debut at Royal Rumble, however, would be suicidal.

AJ is a talent that deserves to go straight into the main event scene. WWE is not going to let him win the Rumble for sure, so introducing him just to get eliminated at some point in the match, would not be a good first impression.

AJ will be better off if he starts in NXT.

#1 Reigns retaining the title

Anyone but him

Roman Reigns heads into the Royal Rumble match as the WWE champion.

He will have to work through 29 other superstars to retain the championship and if he does it, it would once again attract hate towards Reigns. The reason why WWE fans started rejecting him was because of his John Cena 2.0 tag.

The WWE Universe felt that Reigns was portrayed as a superman and it did not sit well with them. If Reigns goes on to win the Rumble match, such feelings will creep into the fan base. In turn, Reigns will lose the support he has garnered heading to WrestleMania.
