Can Dameon Pierce lead the Houston Texans to an upset victory over the Washington Commanders?
Can Dameon Pierce lead the Houston Texans to an upset victory over the Washington Commanders?

The Washington Commanders keep their positive momentum going as they travel south to take on the struggling Houston Texans.

The Commanders are a different team with Taylor Heinicke under center. The Houston Texans have found a few building blocks but remain in a rebuild.

Today we look at the best DFS plays from this intriguing match-up.

Best quarterback picks

Cash Games: Taylor Heinicke, QB, Washington Commanders (DraftKings $8.4K, FanDuel $8.4K)

Taylor Heinicke played well on Monday Night Football. The Commanders' run-first approach limits the ceiling of Taylor Heinicke, but game scripts are fickle, and could change at any time.

Tournaments: Davis Mills, QB, Houston Texans (Draftkings $5K, FanDuel $6.4K)

Davis Mills is one of the least attractive names in the DFS slate. The Texans' offense is traditionally one of the worst in the NFL. Remember, game scripts are fluid, and if the Commanders get up to a big lead, the Texans may have to abandon the run and throw the ball relentlessly in the 2nd half.

Best running back picks

Cash Games: Dameon Pierce, RB, Houston Texans (DraftKings $5.9K, FanDuel $7.1K)

Dameon Pierce is the entire Houston Texans backfield. The Texans know it, so they went out and added RB Eno Benjamin off waivers to provide some assistance in the pass-catching department. I wouldn't expect to see much of Eno Benjamin in this one, leaving Dameon Pierce to handle every-down duties for another week.

Tournament: Brian Robinson Jr., RB, Washington Commanders (DraftKings $5.9K, FanDuel $6.8K)

The Houston Texans' run defense is one of the worst units in the NFL. Teams have been relentlessly attacking the Texans via their ground game. We saw how well the Commanders ran the ball on Monday Night Football. Expect the Commanders to remain committed to the ground game in this one. Brian Robinson Jr. is the primary beneficiary of a run-heavy approach.

Wide receivers and tight ends

Cash game: Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders (DraftKings $6.8K, FanDuel 7.7K)

Terry McLaurin is one of my favorite plays in the DFS slate, regardless of position. McLaurin looked terrific on Monday night against the Eagles secondary. The Texans have been good against pass-catchers because teams run the ball all over them. If the Texans' front seven is better against the run than anticipated, Terry McLaurin would have a field day against the Texans' vulnerable secondary.

Tournament: Nico Collins, WR, Houston Texans (DraftKings $4.4K, FanDuel $5.8K)

The Washington Commanders have been a defense to target via the pass all season long. The expectation is that the game script is favorable for the Houston Texans' passing game. In all likelihood, they will be chasing in this one. The Commanders will likely plan to take away the big plays from Brandin Cooks, leaving Nico Collins as the most likely target for QB Davis Mills.
