For only the 28th time, we have a sports equinox. For 76 years, four major sports have played in the USA, but for the second time this month and just the 28th time in history, all four sports will be played on the same day.
There is considerable overlap between the NFL, NBA and NHL seasons, but MLB stands alone as the only summer sport. As the baseball season has run longer and started to carry over into the first few days of November, we've had more equinoxes in the last few years.
However, thanks to an MLB lockout that caused the league to start a week later, the World Series could run the first week of November.
