Roger Federer holds the record for spending the most number of weeks as No.1

Roger Federer has a thing for records and even till a few years back when the competition was relatively slack, his dominance over the sport made him prowl around as the World Number 1 for a record 302 weeks overall and another record of 237 consecutive weeks spent in the top spot.

This is another feat which few can achieve. Pete Sampras previously held the record for being the top-seeded player for 286 weeks overall while his best streak was only 102 weeks.

Ideally, for someone to break this record, he has to dominate world tennis for at least five years at a stretch and then spend some more time on the top!

Federer is now eyeing to become the oldest Number 1 player if he manages to get through to the semis of the upcoming ATP Rotterdam event and earn the 155 points, that is keeping him from this record.
