Djokovic capped a banner 2015 season, which saw him win three Grand Slam titles and a record 6 Masters 1000 titles, by winning the season-ending ATP Finals for the 5th time in his career.

Having previously lifted ATP Finals titles in 2008, 2012-2014, Djokovic became the first player to win four consecutive titles in the history of the tournament.

The Serb beat Nikolay Davydenko to lift his first ATP Finals title in 2008. Djokovic has thrice denied Federer a record-extending 7th title at the tournament by beating the Swiss maestro in 2012 and 2015 and a 'walkover' victory in 2014.

Following his first Wimbledon title in 2011, Djokovic won his second and third at the tournament at Federer's expense in 2014-15 before taking home his fourth title at the grass-court major in 2018.

In 2019, Federer and Djokovic met for the third time in a Wimbledon final. On the cusp of a record-extending 9th title at the tournament, when Federer held two consecutive championship points at 8-7 40-15 in the fifth, Djokovic reprised his match-point saving act against Federer.

Having denied the Swiss from match points down in the 2010-11 US Open semifinals, Djokovic fought back to once again deny Federer from the brink of defeat. The Serb broke back before prevailing in the first-ever Wimbledon fifth-set tiebreak to become the first player in 71 years to win the tournament after saving multiple championship points.
