What's the story?

Roger Federer, after taming Marton Fucsovics in the fourth round of the Australian Open gave a hilarious interview to Jim Courier and talked about his plans of spending the rest of the day as unlike other matchdays, his tie got over in the evening.

In case you didn't know...

Federer defeated Márton Fucsovics 6-4, 7-6 (3), 6-2 on Monday in the Round of 16 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park and progressed to the quarterfinals where he will take on 19th seed Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic.

The heart of the matter

Federer won his fourth-round match against Hungarian Fucsovics without dropping a set and progressed to the quarterfinals. After the match, Federer spoke to Courier who interviewed him about the match.

Courier asked Federer about his plans for the evening as he would have the night off after the press conferences and massages were done away with.

Federer replied that he would probably be busy till about 9 pm and later might go out for a dinner with his wife Mirka. He then quickly checked out his box and on seeing that his better half had already left, Federer said that Mirka might have other plans and that the dinner might be in danger of getting cancelled. The crowd which was already overawed by the master, went into overdrive as Federer reminded them that he possesses a great sense of humour too. Here is a video of the interview:

Federer's dinner plans might have got derailed but his defence of the Australian Open title is on the right track as he reached the quarterfinals at the Melbourne Park for a record 14th time.

What's next?

Federer will face his old rival Berdych at the Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday at 02:00 pm IST as he continues his quest for his 6th Australian Open title.
